Great post-race photos I saw on Motoverte.com. I love the emotion of the moment.

Pressure kicks in, and it`s not from Coy.

It's too bad he puts so much pressure on himself because he certainly hasn't learned how to handle it. Great pic demonstrating the support he has.

Coy Gibbs has a lot of experience dealing with hot headed, very talented athletes. JS7 is a lot like Kyle Busch, if he's not winning he's wrecking. JS7 is much calmer than Busch so this should be a walk in the park for Gibbs.

As long as James can turn that "pressure" into focus and not panic he will be ok. He can do it, but he has to believe that he can and will do it.

I think Stewart will get it together and win one before long. I hope so, because the last thing I want is to have to watch RV run away with it every race.

I think it was a good showing from Stewart. I'm sure that's what Coy is telling him. There's a whole lot of races ahead.

It's all part of the script... It's going to be a feel good story about a heroic comeback for an athlete that has lost his edge...

You just watch.

Agreed, and I hope he can because it will be very boring to watch races like this weekend all season long. Great racing behind RV but SPEED doesn't do enough to show it IMO.

Yes. I was in the JGR pits and saw him giving James tips. Thought it was pretty funny to see big James trying to give JS7 riding tips haha.

Like he did on Bubba's world: "You should steer with the rear wheel like Villopoto does"

If you look at the past, James has never done well at A1. He usually turns it around and I think has won Phoenix for quite a few years in a row now. I don't know if it was really a matter of him giving up half way through the race as just maybe taking it down a notch. I counted at least half a dozen times during the broadcast that some one said "The championship can't be won at A1, but it can be lost".

I don't get why everyone is all gloom and doom on the guy.
So what, he may have gotten a bit tired. He was working up
from a shit start at a good clip I thought. I was surprised Short held him up
so much, but he dealt with that in a smart way.

Like he said, it's been so long since he raced he almost forgot what it was like.
With all that happened he still salvaged a 6th.
He's not out of it by any means, the season's just started.

X2. Nah, he had a good first race. You're right, he rode a smart race for not being in competition as long as he has.

In reality it can go both ways, who knows,it may be a total upset year.(Tedesco,Windahm he has been close a couple of times in the last few years, who knows)
Totally depends on who stays healthy and who wants it more.

Saying SX is scripted to riders is plain stupid, sorry, dont know if you were kidding or serious, but no way.

I'm not a JS7 fan, but I'm not ready to count him out yet. Saturday was typical of last year - Fastest qualifier, then crash out. He's on a new team with better equipment this year and I think it's not going to be long before he gets tired of Villipoto owning everyone. RC never did good at A1 either. In fact I don't think he ever won the opening round but we all know how he finished.

you guys have to remember something.... each year, we get older (hell, each second- profound riight?) And as we get older, we lose some of our edge. We lose that unwavering, absolute self confidence, and a small step off our reflexes.

For most everyone, its not a huge deal. For a racer... a racer of his calibur and status, there is only one place, 1st, or its a failure- to himself, the fans, to the industry

Add father time to that mix, add the new young bullz to the pasture, it can shake you to the core and some cant get past it. Thats why our sport has always been, and will always be, a young mans sport. You get around 25 or so, crazy ballz gets tempered, racing by instinct begins to be replaced by racing by thought, and then you lose your edge.

All he has to realise is this, hes mortal, and still fast as hell. Some days, he will win, somedays, he needs to accept today is just not my day lets move to next week... aka Reed.

I dont know if JS7 can accept that.

Each time James doesn't win a supercross this year.... the pressure from the media and the team ( who signed him to win the championship, nothing less, will ratchet up a notch.

The pressure on him is HUGE and only getting bigger.

Well said, and when you set your goal to beat MC's win record, that right there says its win or go home for him.

James tweet regarding the new rule concerning the red plate:

"So I'll tell bone to get some ready!!! Oh no he didn't!!! Yes I did"

Yes, there is tons of pressure on James, but it is self-imposed.

He is expected to win every race. Thats the pressure thats put on him.

He needs to set a goal and not worry about what people expect. Try and get 8 wins or what ever. But it cant be so high that no one would reach it.

James looked decent until he tightend up. I really think those first race jitters will be gone at the next round.

Either way its going to be good. Top 5 were close in lap times for the most part.

The start will be the biggest factor on who wins.

He blew it on purpose. And he will do it again. He wants to make a late season charge for the championship AND win that kickass Brett Michaels award.

Obviously he got to where he was without any "tips" from big James ... I am assuming you heard the conversation. (sarcasm intended)

This sums it up perfectly. Nobody puts more pressure on James Stewart than James Stewart.

A little modesty earlier in his career would be serving him well now.

James has always been a big mouth when he was dominating and now all that gloating is coming home to roost when he's not. Amazingly, he continues to do it even now....

I just think he has no confidence in the Yamadog.... the front end washed out again, last year with Dunlop’s this year with Pirellis.... he is probably asking Coy if he can still switch to Suzuki!

Just kidding... Sarcasm intended

Just looked like he had first race jitters and tightened up when he saw how fast RV was checking out (Reed too before he crashed). I'm sure he is even more focused this week than ever to make sure that doesn't happen again. Can't wait for Phoenix Cool
