Would anyone be interested in a two stroke only magazine?

It is just an idea I have been thinking about. We would test all the two strokes everyone says are so great and even compare them to modern bikes. I have the time and the money to start a magazine but I might need some help from people who have worked for a magazine before.

Starting a new mag would be hard to get companys to lend u a bike to test . I would recommend staying Online and investing in twostrokemx.com. The site already has alot of traffic but needs quality articles and bike tests.

Having worked in the magazine industry for years, and making the conversion to web, I'd suggest going the digital route, rather than doing it in print.

I'm not a huge 2 stroke fan-attic, but the one thing that I do love about 2 strokes is the sound. There is no audio in a magazine.

A website based around finding bikes/parts and tips and tricks for guys who are going back to 2 strokes or still have them could be successful I'd think... but the MX industry isn't very big in general, and the 2 stroke crowd is only a small fraction of that niche.

What if it included tests of three-wheelers,atv's and shifter karts? I might go the web root.

2-stroke people would complain about the cost and not buy it.

If you are wanting to try and start a two stroke motocross magazine you should talk with charles over at twostrokemotocross.com. He has been wanting to start a two stroke magazine so maybe if you joined up with him you two could make it happen. Im sure you could find his contact information on the site.

I'm only interested if you are definitely going to include 3-wheelers.

there is a new prototype grand prix race series starting up, or trying to start up. you'd have to cover it, if it happens, since motorgp went to production bullshit.

It would have to be digital. And it would have to be free. Check out MXIllustrated. That is the future of "magazines".

I'm not in to two stroke three wheelers or atv's but it would give me something else to write about and there are people who like them. Shifter karts is a different story. I love driving those.

I think you should make a 3 wheeler specific magazine! I could get down with that!

You could broaden your horizons and make it about more than just two stroke dirt bikes.

you could consider vintage two stroke street bikes (who will ever tire of reading about Kawie 750 triples?)

you could talk about yard maintenance equipment (my Stihl 2 stoke trimmer rips, so does my Husky chainsaw)

you could get into snowmobile coverage (where direct fuel injected and oil injected engines are the most advanced two strokes anywhere)

you could even get real weird and cover off 2 stroke diesel ship engines where you can actually rebuild them while they continue to run!!!

i would say stay the web route. but dont use a 4 stroke kawi (like your avitar) as your 2 stroke forum avitar!! Shocked might not be taken seriously by people basically grazing on by.

If I was looking at starting a magazine (in any sport), I'd look into going the Vice route. Give the magazine away for free and bank on advertisers. As long as you got good distro, every copy will be taken / read which is more than can be said for normal $5 magazines. A BMX mag launched this year in the UK doing the same (The Albion) and they are killing it. Print maybe dead, or dieing a slow death, but if a magazine is free and sat on the counter of an MX shop, the copies would go fast. Worked for Vice anyway, they are huge now. I wouldn't pay for that mag, but I'll gladly take a copy for free and in the process I become one more digit for them to crowbar more advertisers in.
