FAST, 110 minutes of riding and SUPER quiet!

But I like the sound of a 2-stroke MUCH better. The sound helps in the sense of speed I think.....yet not switching gears would be cool too (like a CVT Transmission).

Love the first line,"Motocross riders, go electric and the wildlife will love you for it". Will the wild life love us when we have to dispose of the battery and or charging system?

Batteries are recycled. Charging system is a plug in the wall.

So, you're saying this isn't actually electric, then? It's coal, gas or nuclear powered?

Cool-way to save the environment.

So it pays for itself after two or three complete engine rebuilds?

And that promo video has been floating around for a couple years.

Is this some sort of half-baked trial balloon being launched here at Vital?

Funny there's a banner ad for Zero ebikes that shows up on this thread.

I understand they recycle batterys but how do they recycle them, what do they do with the old internals that are no good. You can't just add acid to them and boom they are like new again. And what about a cracked battery, and acid gets on little Johnny(Lawsuit). And you have never had a charge system fail on you, (think about computer batterys, cordless drill batterys here), over time they will deteriorate.

And this probably uses lithium-ion batteries. Lithium costs at least 6 times as much to recycle as it does to be mined.

I think the advantage with electric bikes is more because they're quiet (which means fewer tracks getting shut down) and less maintenance. They won't be environmentally beneficial until hydrogen fuel cells become widespread and cheap.

Hydrogen fuel cells won't become either widespread or cheap in our lifetime.

Yeah they will, Honda is expecting to mass produce it's version in 10 years. So it'll be during our lifetime unless you're 90 or something lol.

Mined? You mean they clear cut and dig a thirty mile crater in the wildlife world to get to the rare earth minerals? No way.....

Now, when my Makita batteries die and I go to replace them I find out they cost more than the tool itself. Simple solution, I buy another tool with batteries which of course has been updated and the batteries will not work with my old Makitas. So now I have old but perfectly usable tools also going in the dumpster..... along with dead batteries.....and a charger.....and a plastic carrying case.

Doesn't mean it will be widespread or cheap though does it? Chevy Volt at $43,000.00, comparable to a $14,000.00 Chevy Aveo???

Really? Nice!

I wonder if it's the same design as the hydrogen cell they were working on in the '80s? I remember back then that they figured they would have cars using a hydrogen cell by '95 or so.

Did you know that hydrogen fuel cells have been around longer than internal combustion engines?

Bottom line is how much are you willing to pay to be able to ride in your own back yard track? It's getting tougher and tougher to do without getting shut down by the neighbors. You can make a pretty nice layout on 5 acres but the neighbors are going to be damn close.

Haha, no, I didn't know that. That's pretty crazy.

or you could just, you know, put a real silencer on a combustion bike. probably would be considerably less than 14 thousand dollars. might even be quieter too.

It's a must right now.. But it won't make a difference to most of the people who make a fuss about it, they hate dirt bikes and they hate any noise period.

Yeah. It's a gimmick/tech exercise and impractical for any kind of real-world use.

It IS a cool car, though.

agreed 100%.

even if my bike was 100% silent and emitted pure rainbow juice from the exhaust, people would still complain.

i got curious and googled it, EV's aren't really any quieter than a combustion engine, save for the ricers running their straight pipes, of course.

"Tests of four E/HE cars and four ICE cars found that at speeds of around five miles per hour, E/HE were barely one decibel quieter than standard vehicles and three decibels above background noise. At 12mph, noise levels were almost identical."

i used to race electric r/c vehicles, and those little electric motors can scream.

Bro, 110 minute motos would be gnarly. Hope speed and fuel give them more airtime so that we don't just get the highlights for the nationals.

Yea I live in a private neighborhood with large lots from 1 to 5 acres, I have two and have a really fun pitbike track for us to play around on for over ten years. Nothing fancy just a few turns and a small triple. My property has a 30 foot tall wall of areca palms around most of it. I never rode the big bikes on the track, just a stockish ttr 125 and some trick little bbr 5o's for the kids and probally more myself and friends. My closest neighbors are all really cool and we all house sit each other during vacations. My yard has always been perfectly groomed, one of the best in the neighborhood. The self appointed neighborhood cop passes and waves daily as well as christmas cards. It has been a while since any bikes have been on it just traxxas and losi shortcourse trucks mostly. Now some of my closest tracks shut down and I am getting less ride time these days so I'm interested in seeing how reliable these are and hope the price will drop but the price is not a surprise. I have some acres in NC in a really quiet area that these would be great for too. They could maybe build tracks in town and not worry about the noise factor. I will just need a horn to beep since no panic rev noise to get you out of the way. lol
