Interesting stuff......like to see Jeff and Mike both do well.

I think Spud has a valid question about the MA/JGR thing, there was quite a bit of talk about Mike going there.

Allow me to take this opportunity to set you guys straight on what the program and setup is at MotoConcpts this year.

Tony Alessi is managing Mike in terms of his training, bike setup and daily routine much like a personal manager.

There is nobody that knows what Mike wants and needs to make him comfortable and confident more than Tony. Much like Chad, Mike is choosing to run his own program and not be confined to the inflexible structures of factory teams. The difference of Mikes program to Chads is, Mike has the luxury of team MotoConcepts infrastructure, qualified support staff, financial support and much much more. Not to say Chad didn't put all that together in an excellent way but it's a lot of work, effort and cost that Mike is not having to deal with. By the way, get used to this kind of structure, cuz it's the way of the future with top riders.

Those of you who think Mike and Tony should be apart, you really don't know. Those two are one, and Mike relies on Tony very much, and he should, nobody knows what Mike needs better. Oh by the way, good or bad it's his dad.

As far as Tony being the team manager and calling the shots, that's not the case. With the support of my staff in Cali and Wash. I run the team and call the shots, no one else.

Tony focuses on what and how Mike needs and we focus on Jeff, Jake and Tommy needs, and the operation of the team.

Here is a tip, Jeff is great rider and is physically in better shape than in years and is very capable of doing well on the track. He's
a good tester and can push his brother daily when practicing, not to mention how he can help on race day.
Just go ahead and make Tony your boss now.

Go Mike, Jeff and Tony, good luck. Stay clear of Josh Grant and wait a few laps for him to crash. Watch out when you lap him. Get through SX with a top 8 and go out and challenge the best in the outdoors.

We get it, you love the Alessis! That's cool. But there is nothing bad about what I said or asked. I can bet you it's not the first and won't be the last time people ask him that question because the information was public. Mike wanting to be and actually signing at Gibbs was a fact. This isn't a secret that I let out of the bag. That news was all over. I don't see anything wrong with asking about it. It obviously stuck a never with you though for some strange reason.

What about Mike wanting to go to JGR without Tony and live in NC with his wife to ride the YZF450 that he loved when he tried it? But you and Tony wouldn't let him do whatever he really wanted to do so you could keep him at MotoConcepts and Tony could keep his "dream" going.

Can we get you to clear up this subject that everyone is avoiding?
Spuds....you are exactly right. I heard that Mike and his wife were going to live at the house at the JGR test track and that Mike was so excited about the deal.

Oh well....Mikes a big boy....he'll learn someday. JGR probably made a better choice with Davi though.

Thanks for posting!

I've always thought the media hype behind "tony being the problem" was always foolishness to an extent. Its a bond that father and son have inevitably built over the years. To say they should be separated has always stumped me. People may disagree with their methods, but its what got them where they are today. There are certainly other ways to do it, but you can't ask someone to be who they are not, and thats what it boils down to. I got respect for those guys.....

I have one question about your last statement regarding Jeff being able to push his brother daily. Is this the focus on some level? I believe Jeff needs to shine with his own light, and not be in his brothers shadow, he's a great kid (as you know), and very talented. I've always wondered about this. I don't think Jeff is just "along for the ride" , or at least i hope not, if he was pushed to be his own man i think he would do really well. And I hope this is his break through year.

Good luck to all of you.

Hook, line & sinker. What makes you believe this is Mike, because the internet says so? I'm not saying it isn't, but there isn't a whole lot of insight there. Nothing some other Vital poster couldn't impersonate.

You got a mouse in your pocket? I'm talking to you, not we.

I like all motocrossers, I got respect for any man on that gate. Mike's probably in my top 10 favorites?

Anyone who scours for MX info knows what you are talking about, it would make for a very non climactic answer though, because we already know the end result. Bottom line is it's really non of "our" business, if they want you to know or find it important (for some reason?) they would tell us. I would listen.

My nerve it struck was, unless your someone with no respect you would never ask a man that exact question to his face. I guarantee you would say it a bit more tactfully.

Thank you for the clarification. Checking in to clear things up gets to a point some have made elsewhere.

Why not issue an official press release outlining team endeavors so as to avoid any such confusion, gossip, rumors? An added bonus is exposure, attention, and headlines for the team. Any press release ends up on RacerX, here, MXA, Transworld, for all to see. The overall public relations teams employ are severely lacking.

Seems to me some shit hit the fan a while ago and MCR Boss replied. I thought it was confirmed by GuyB that it was indeed Mike Genova. I could be wrong. My bad. Or I could be right. Faceaz, do you have PROOF either way? That would be great.

That vague, already obtainable & subjective information is a very far cry from a drivers license. I have no clue if it's really him, but I have better sense than to clamor at someones feet just because they created that username.

Hey Spud, or maybe it's Pud? The only nerve you struck with me is the one of utter disbelief that there are people in this world who choose to fabricate their own little fantasies of what is reality to satisfy some little party they want to be invited to.

You know nothing about what contracts Mike had signed and when, or what contracts he actually had presented to him. You are an outsider who obviously wants to be on the inside.

Mikes choice to ride for MotoConcepts was his, as he is a grown married man. If you want to pass unwarranted blame for that decision on whom ever, feel free. Bottom line is you sound like the hurt school boy who got turned down by the cute girl who had better options in the long run.

Did it ever occur to you or others that Mike wanted to ride for a team where he is considered the premier rider on the team and the mental advantages that offers? Número UNO. Not a second fiddle support piece to another top rider. He has done that been there.

And yes your damn right I like the Alessi boys. They are fast, hard working, committed and winners, and per your post I guess I'm not the only one who likes them.

By the way the term public record is very easy to exhibit and prove, so please show me the evidence of your claims.

Yes this is Genova. Who else would it be?

Kinda funny that a team boss would respond to anything on here, and resort to name calling at that. Could you see the general manager of an NFL team responding to some message board hack? lol. Kinda puts in perspective where our sport is.

I just spent an entire weekend with Mike, Tony and Dani and let me tell you all something, contrary to your opinions and rumors, they're very nice people. Mike was one of the most thoughtful, kind and polite riders I have seen in this sport, and that says a lot. He was nice and polite to anyone who approached him. No attitude, no "God complex." Another rider that Mike hardly knew (if at all), came and asked Mike for a pair of goggles, and without any hesitation, Mike grabbed a set, signed them and handed them over.
Mike raced here in Stuttgart as part of the TEAM. He didn't think or compete as a "me" he was a part of the team and worked as part of the team.
Tony is a man on a mission, He has goals and sets out to fulfill them, no different than any other team manager or professional. Tony also was nice and kind, smiling and friendly. He never yelled, never bossy and was just a guy who made sure Mike's bike was in tip-top shape and ready to go. Tony notices every minor detail and has them addressed. All he wants is the best for his son. Can you fault a man for that?

Over the years, I think this overblown wildly embellished persona people have trumped up has overtaken reality.

For everyone that hates on the Alessi's... You just don't know them... When I was out there on the Outdoor tour helping WWR, the Alessi's were always very friendly, took time to talk to you, the fans, and were very big supporters of WWR... So don't hate unless you have really worked on that side of the fence. Watch you usually see in the media... don't always believe... They are good people.

Not for nothing but you come off as sort of a jerk in this post.
It's a legit question since the general public doesn't know what happened.

If your answer is "that isn't any of your business"....that's fine but you don't have to be a shit about it.

This isn't a press conference. I like the fact that guys like Mike can come in here and speak candidly. If Mike wants to call Ddavis a tool I feel as though he has every right to do so without having to detract his statement minutes later.

I'm not saying anyone has to be politically correct, it is possible to say what is on your mind without being rude.

I mean whether you are here on Vital or in a Press Conference you are still the owner of a professional team.
It was a pretty straight forward question, the insults in the answer seemed a little uncalled for to me.

Agreed, he should be a little above that as a professional. He has a right to defend himself and his team, but he came off as some of the worst offenders on here who are "outsiders".

I gotta admit, not for a second did I question this being Genova as I've seen him here before and the comments are always about MC. I will say that one of my pet peeves with this industry is a somewhat lackadaisical approach to public relations. I'm pretty shocked to see such comments made here by a team owner, under any circumstances. I had the opinion that in the whole Pourcel deal that Christophe was the problem and completely screwed the team over, no matter what he had to say about it. These comments, not only aren't good PR they are bad PR. This is in such bad judgement (as a team owner) that I now have to question my previous opinions on other matters (Pourcel). I agree that some posters are out to stir the pot but I'm still amazed that would get a team owner to lose his cool so easily.

When you consider that all of the rumors and speculation could have been avoided with a simple press release, it makes it all the more odd to go down this road with it.

Kinda funny that a team boss would respond to anything on here, and resort to name calling at that. Could you see the general manager of an NFL team responding to some message board hack? lol. Kinda puts in perspective where our sport is.
So true. Other sports have learned where their bread is buttered and who pays their bills. Regardless of what the players involved think of their fans, they know not to ever make it public or they'll be apologizing for the next few weeks and feeling the effects of it for years. Just a bit ago we had Josh Grant calling the message-boarders "#fags" in his little public forum. Here a team owner is getting into the fray. Say what you want about NASCAR, they understand where their hella-jack comes from. In MX it seems the fans are an unwanted by-product of the job. Some definitely get it but it seems too many don't.
