National #5 motocross title contender Mike Alessi and Alessi Racing Inc. will be combining forces with team Motoconcepts for the 2012 race season with their sights set firmly on racing at the highest level.

Mike Alessi will be competing on an RMZ 450 Suzuki built from parts and components that are available to the masses via race shops, the Internet, and retail dealers.

This effort will be a family effort (brothers Mike and Jeff Alessi) with the support of team Motoconcepts, who in itself, is a supplier of off road accessory items for motorcycle racers world wide.

"This is an exciting opportunity for me" says Mike Alessi "Mike Genova and Motoconcepts is providing me with the infrastructure to build and manage my own race program."

The combined forces of Mike Alessi, Alessi Racing Inc. and Motoconcepts is a new and innovative approach to a rider and team relationship that may set a new standard in both Supercross and Motocross racing world wide.

TA
Ha!

And so the drama begins. I don't know if DV is, or was, or will be a good mx team manager. But it looks like TA snookered MIke Genova pretty good. "You want Mike? Guess what? I come with the package or no Mike." Man, that's a nasty piece of work. Too bad MA couldn't say to his Dad, "Dad, I love ya man, but go the hell away, you're killing me". There's something really strange about the whole Alessi entourage.

Yeah, I know, I blundered that one. I saw the TA under the press release after I posted. Wink

Thier #5, let the misspelled words and bad grammar roll. When I read "National #5" it leads me to believe that the rider's number is #5. Maybe years ago that would have correlated to point standings but that is not true these days. Certainly "fifth ranked" would have been the correct terminology.
You telling me you were somehow misled by the wording of the press release?

"National Number 5 ?????? WHATTT???? I DON"T GET IT! I mean his number is 800. what else could they have possibly meant....hmmmm.....gosh, it's just a total mystery."

Nobody thought Js7 would change from 259.

Are you guys really stressing over the wording of a press release?

Can I get a face-palm, please?

So does this leave Jake Canada out in the cold or will he still be involved with Motoconcepts? According to DV Canada signed a letter of intent with the team for 2012.

On second thought maybe Canada should follow DV's lead and run for the hills.
My guess....He signed a letter of intent with DV (before the Alessi deal was done). It will be interesting to see how this all works out now .......

A letter of intent really means jack shit in this sport. Hell, contracts don't mean much.

Not stressing at all. Just wondering if it meant he changed his number or if they where talking about how he finished outdoors.

Is Dungey's 5 a permanent number? Why yes, yes it is, unless he's using a number 1.

Yeah as far as other riders go on that team, Tony wouldn't mentioned that in his press release. Because to him its only a two man team (mike and jeff) anyone else on that team will just be there and certainly it won't be anyone that would be better than Mike or have anything equal to what Mike will get... Sounds like Team Alessi found a "Sugar Daddy"

You shouldn't need to read between the lines in a press release that's meant for everyone. Bad day? Bring motodrive back and let us post there if you don't want us here.

Nothing will change.....fast starter, then the fade.
Only difference is who he's trying to block when they are coming by.

Not hating, but blocking like they do is chicken shit.

Nope, no bad day. Though it has been a couple bad Sunday in motorsports. Just bring a little common sense along for the ride.

800 2 MCR... If i followed right, he signed with MCR, then he wanted to go to JGR, signed 2 deals, MCR sent a press release to make to deal fall thru between 800 & JGR, The alessis sent an email to the press saying Mike wasn't signed with MCR, only Cycle News ran the release, MCR threatened the Alessis with a lawsuit, JGR took the deal off the table because they didn't want to be in the middle of the mess. MotoConcepts got who they wanted but obviously the Alessis don't want to be there. Where is the "Reality of MCR" or the "Alessi's World" when you need it! ;-)

Does that mean two more years of BS just like it was when he was with KTM?

Cool, so we can post just like we did at motodrive? Because it sure kept people like DDavis and SuperMario away.

As for the numbering system, heard from ping that JH has to change his number from 100 so I'm not entirely sure what the deal with the numbering system is.

Kinda sounds like DV's option of staying with MCR might just have hit a snag.......

I knew he was ranked fifth. But when you say someone is "National #5" that sure sounds like they are saying he has the national number 5. That's what I was questioning.

Like I said Team Alessi found their "Sugar Daddy". Tony wins here, not spending Mike's money, got rid of the team manager, who might have had a say or two in what was being spent or done and Jeff will now be paid to be on the team too. I don't know any other team that would allow this to happen.. NOT PC or JGR so it will be interesting to see how this works out..
