Why is that Motodude? It was an observation, not bashing. I'm sure things will get much better as they go. Why is it that someone cant make a comment on here, without people twisting it around, and turning it in to shit talk? Fact is, the bike didnt look like it handled that great, and Dung didnt look super comfortable. That is all understandable, given the time on the machine, but it certainly appeared to be the case. But I'm sure they'll get there. At least I hope for his sake...............

Anyone else notice how much Dungey sat down compared to RV?

RV was on rails last night. Everyone has there days and RV had one to remember last night.

Funny how no one wants to point out Brayton's lackluster ride. Must be the bike!!!! No way it could be the rider.
Brayton's performance on the Honda probably proves how well those JGR bikes work.

# 5 KTM seemed to skate in the corners and especially on the big boulders it seemed to bounce around more than RV's.
it looked very stiff, I think thats why he seemed to be sitting down alot more.

new everything forks, motor, rider. with no former setting to go off.

the Kawi's Nyk's #27 and RV's are track proven.

my guess is now that KTM has some feedback ( 1 race) back to the SX test track for some more seat time....

Unfortunately RD's fans are going to ruin KTM's efforts, because all this coming year, if he doesn't win they will blame the bike, thus undermining KTM's image.

The bike looked pretty good to me after the first main. It was cornering well and the rear was more settled. They obviously made some changes before the 2nd main. I for one am excited to see him on something other than a jap bike. I'm not even a fan, but i'm kinda rooting for him to do well, so all the KTM bashers will zip it.

It should be ANOTHER great season

The OP was merely saying what he observed and I agree with him. Why can't we discuss instead labelling, nobody said Dungey didn't ride well, or that he could have ridden better if he had been on different bike. James seemed the same on his Yamie when he first came out with the new bike, it is not about RD, RV or anybody's fans making excuses. So let's start over: What did you notice about the new KTM? Leave the rider out the equation.

I am not sure why Honda even signed Brayton in the first place, I don't see him being a threat to win a race and much less a championship. They had a better chance to win with Josh Grant and even he is was longshot.

It will be Ger, and all of the stupidly of down talking the bike after Ryan and his team has had two weeks to work on the set up shows the mentality of some on this board.

BTW: That's coming from a guy that has all the respect in the world for Dungey, and his abilities, but he's not one of my favorite riders. I can assure each and everyone of you that Ryan's KTM will be dialed in, and ready to go for A-1.

For some reason he looked like he was riding a 250 two-stroke. You know how the 250 two-stroke doesn't seem to suck up stuff on the track like a 450. However, I do think that Dungey is the right guy to be on teh bike though.

I don't think there is anybody in the world, on any brand of bike, that was going to beat RV last night. He was dialed in and on it, even by his high standards. TC41, JS7, CR22 and RD5 will have to step their game up for next year.

Ya I'm jealous of his hair, but Dungey is a bad ass and did an awesome job with little time at his new gig, probably helped having Roger there who had previous experience working with Dungey of course.

RV was on it last night, the stars lined up for him, nuff said.

I bet they all know how much and what they had to do, come A1...
If, if and buts were candies and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas... b-u-t , with the exception of RD5, they weren't, there... Were they?...

it almost looked to me like RV2 had been riding that 2012 KX for a few months
AND
that RD5 wasn't really riding as hard as he could, as if he'd just started riding that KTM.

just how dumb is this thread?

If at the end of next years SX/MX season...if the RD's and the factory haven't got it figured out and can't get on the box then I will admit that the pumpkin must handle like a highway guardrail and is un-rideable. Until then...it's just a learning curve. Getting beaten by that other Ryan is something everyone on every brand better get used too...if they haven't already. (Even if Dungey quits the team and finishes the season on a Craigslist TTR225 rather than ride the KTM...I still want a 300 real bad though).

Honda picked up Brayton because he brought them Mucle Milk. Solid rider, good guy, good sponsor. I think they only expect top 7's for Justin and an occasinal top 4 will be a bonus.

How about Tomac. He looked awesome on the 450.

A lot of people put too much focus on A-1. There's 16 more rounds. Lots of time to get things sorted out.

No doubt RV put it down, he was on fire. IMO, RD did damn good for being on a bike for less than 2 weeks. RV has had half a MX season to sort his bike (although it didn't really have that many changes that he was going back to square one) and I say that with no disrespect for his ride at MEC. It was awesome to watch and I am not a huge fan, but you have to give him props. As far as RD goes, the bike will be dialed in. It could have been a couple of issues holding him back, tires, suspension, new bike. One thing I would like to see from Dungey is working on his mental game. He clearly is a focused rider, but he really needs to release some aggressiveness. Not turn into a total dick, but he should've parked Alessi and sent a message. I think there were a few times where he just gave up a position at the end in both SX and MX and maybe the MEC that could have been prevented by saying NFW! If he can crank that up a notch, there is no doubt about his physcial ability on the bike and the ability to be fast, sometimes he just needs to turn up the heat.

I just can't understand why people have all this love for the japanese brands and such angst for KTM. Ask yourselves a question or two. What has Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, or Kawasaki done for you personally, or the sport in general? Anything they do is motivated by the dollar and racing is only another way for them to get their brand thought of favorably. Also, dirt bikes make up a very small portion of their bottom line. They sell far more street bikes and quads than dirt bikes. This whole generation seems like they are hypnotized to only see the jap brands as competitive.

KTM, while also responsible to their bottom line, is a company run by racers at every level. People who care about our sport and people who are constantly trying new ways to make the riding experience better. Almost every year brings exciting new changes when the others can only offer BNG. More models, more engine sizes in both two and four stroke, where the others only offer a 250f and a 450f. Whew, thats exciting! Well, Yamaha does also offer a ten year old two stroke.

KTM is all about dirt bikes, making only a handful of street and ATV machines. Why would we as a group hate on a company who offers so much to us. I don't get it.

Also, as for the bike that Dungey was riding this past weekend; what do you think the results would have been had it been RV that KTM picked up and not RD? RV still would have won. Right now he is the best rider, mixing all the skill of a Dungey or Reed with an aggression that no one can match.

IMO I just hope RV2 rests on his lorals & RD5 + KTM improve with testing, JS7 stays on Yamaha to keep him back with the Ryan's & they all battle through out the 2012 SX seriesWoohoo

Cool someone who gets it, wake up people KTM has a great range of machines, I just hope they bring the rear shock link to the EXC range, although I must admit I haven't ridden a PDS KTM for a few years, I hear they are very good now

Where's all this angst against KTM. All I've seen for the last two weeks is KTM, KTM, KTM.

And I love when people say that people they agree with "get it". As if everyone else just doesn't.

Looked better than I thought he would, I was hoping for top 5.

Really, 2 weeks testing on an all new bike, against bikes that have years of refinement - 2nd is not bad, not bad at all.

The rear end kicking under braking, I'm sure is one of their top priorities. I didn't think the turning looked too bad. They're further allong than I thought they would be & I'm sure by A1 will be looking pretty good,

I do believe the Kawasaki's are running some technology that's borderline breaking the rules, it will be hard to match the Kawi's under acceleration,
