Have to agree with you there, McCread, but never count out Paul Malin at Roggenburg '94 as that one downright-ridiculous ride for the ages.... On 250s and 450s outdoors, however, it's all #4.

I dislike Stewart but on a 125 dude was super fast and could ride the balls off that thing. Carmichael was good but not crazy fast like Stewart was on that cc bike.

I never thought I would see it anyway but going from dead last and being down in the first turn to 1st in 15 minutes will never make sense to me. Never.

I think Stewart beats RC on a 125 or 250.

I also think Emig turns in a similar ride in Roggenburg on the same bike Malin had. Similar being the key word because Malin was rolling!

yeh maler was on it that day!!!

I think its hard to say out of RC vs stewart on 125s, i would probably give the nod to james- just because he was dominant in an era where the 250f was the best bike out there! I used to love watching him smoke everyone on the 125!!!!!
Having said that, RC hated losing that much that even if he was slower he probably would have just stepped it up and gone into another time zone!!

Travis Pastrana was a pleasure to watch on the 125 too- he was way too big for a 125, but could make it scream anyway!!! Tortelli was a great 125 rider aswel, but you never got to see him on the 125 in America.

Carmichael could adapt and take it up a notch. I wouldn´t have been surprised to see Carmichael beat Stewart over a season, but he would have had his ass kicked a few times and some tears shed befoe he could return the favor and learn the new game. Stewart took it to the next level, but Carmichael has always been able to learn and adapt through anger and sheer determination. But with that said, I don´t think Carmichael´s speed was anywere near James´s if you look at things sepertely, i.e. 1998 vs 2003 for example.

Stewart is the greatest 125 rider ever. He was unbeatable. RC would of had nothing for him.

RC, hands down.

JS was fast on a 125 but how many times was he really challenged? I think Jesseman was running with him in 03 here and there..thats it.

Oh..and Roncada at Vegas ? in 04 in supercross

JS cracks under pressure, he can ride fast but he can't race good.

Anyone who thinks differently forgets that RC was never beaten in a title chase. But I will say..Bubba did have RC covered in SX towards the end.

I could be wrong, but if you look at the statistics RC lost more 125 races that Stewart did, and I don't think the competition RC faced in the class was much stiffer than Stewarts.

RC definitely was a reborn hard when he got serious in the 250's.

Once RC was on a 250 that was when he became unstoppable.

RC beat Stewart because he is/was mentally stronger. He wore him down until James made a mistake. Pure speed, James may have been faster on many occasions, but RC was a better racer. He did what he had to do to win and I think that it would have been much the same on any bike including the 125.

a young magoo would hold his own against those dudes, especially on a weird creative lines with hills type track. like i said ask barnett about racing magoo back in the daze.


but i'd say after a few battles...rc would dig deep and find whatever it took to not lose

I have to disagree. Not on the 125, james was on another level from everyone on that bike.

It´s a hard comparison to make, because RC wa not in his prime on 125´s. If we are talking Rc on a 125 in his prime, fit and hungry, I doubt JS could beat him for a whole season. We´re talking about the RC that had 2 perfect seasons.

James would take the cake on any given race. If you talk a whole season, however, then RC would have the edge.

When you speak of Stewart taking it to a new level and changing the sport, i agree.

But on that same token, RC also took the sport to a new level....when you think of it that way....then maybe the motivation and reason behind the crazy speed of James, was inspired by the desire to beat RC..

either way...they both got excellent results in their 125 days and really had no competition, pretty much..Epic
