Getting a bad drive leading up to a big jump, but seat bouncing the crap out of it, stretching out in the air, and still hitting the downside.

Riding my "race-bike" on some single-track trails in the forest with friends...absolutely a blast (Yes, quieter muffler!)

Riding morning practice at Mammoth.

Being scared to death of a jump for week after week.. then finally getting the courage to hold it on and clear it for the first time.

Great thread and posts.
-Memories of a 1981 MX80, a vacant lot and some farm land
-Buying my first "real" bike at 32
-Lining up for first race at 33, I nearly puked
-Having a reason to train 5 days a week (take care of myself in general) so that I can go race again later this fall
-Seeing my friends, seeing my friends kids start riding
-Having friends way beyond my skill level who only coach when asked
-Day dreaming about buying my daughter her first gear and bike, she's 5 months, Christmas too early for a PW?
-Track owners who do it for the love and it shows
-Getting my front wheel over that landing for the first time
-The rare railed corner
-Stopping to check on a downed rider to find that they are ok
-Seeing a fast guy wring the piss out of a 125, believe it or not, slow vets on fart machines love that shit too
-The fact that when I'm on a track, it takes all the bullshit of the world away
-Getting to see some of the fast local kids from when I first started on TV
-My daily dose of As the Dirt Turns aka vital

Riding my Dads (deceased) 72 DT2 Enduro for practice and two motos and not falling or breaking anything on me or the bike.

Just the feeling where your suspension is set up perfectly, your feeling like you can hit any line, and you have that rhythm going. No better feeling than that when you're on a bike.

Having an epic battle with a guy on the track. He pulls up afterwards to say "good race", and it turns out he's a 16 year old kid, and he wasnt expecting that you are a 44 year old fart. lol. (again yesterday) Smile

When your midget clears a double on a 50 that you thought was only for big bikes.

Drinking a bud light in a hot shower when I get home, dirty and sore from riding... standing in the hot water for 20 minutes with a beer thinking I cant wait to go ride again tomorrow.

Having your dad and midget standing next to you when you get that bib at Lorrettas. I guess that wasn't so simple, It was HUGE!!

Gotta bump this.. Smile

Waiting all week to head out on a 5 hour drive after work with ur buddies.. arriving at the track at 10 pm setting up the camping stuff, starting the fire, cooking the steaks and throwing back the beers talking shit..

Wake up at 5:30 am to walk the track while the sun is just coming up.. the cool brisk air.. in the distance you hear the machine starting up to prep the deep, sandy soil to perfection.. meanwhile ur putting on that new gear, start the bike and head out on the best prepped dirt u have ever seen.. flowing corners, perfect jumps, good friends, beers, camping, castor oil.. It really doesnt get any better for me.. Readingall these comments has actually given me chills

Riding on the Beach in Baja.

Being in the 1st practice at Mammoth.

A foggy morning at Cahuilla or the Junction.

The faint smell of Pro 6 in the garage.

Rippin' thru the Santa Rita whoops with Ox.

1.) Cupping my fart in my hands and smelling it after
2.) Farting in the van on a hot summer day and rolling up the windows.

- Sitting in the garage, staring at my bike the night before a race.
- Butterflies in your stomach as you pull into the pits and see what other pros showed up that day
- The feeling you get when you are driving through town on your way to go riding, feeling sorry for everyone that isn't
- Passing anyone and everyone during practice and leaving some carnage in your wake, just so they remember you
- Sitting on the starting line knowing you are the fastest guy on the line, and they all know it, too.
- Hooking up as you exit a turn and your bike just wheelies and pulls your arms straight and your shoulders forward as you grab gears
- Pulling in after winning a moto and seeing how happy my mechanic would be, then hearing him tell me how badly I roosted those guys
- Getting up after bailing hard, then catching and passing everyone for the win
- UPS dropping off boxes of trick shit from sponsors all week long
- Showing up at the races having some trick part or riding gear that no one else can get and the mental boost it gives you, even if it sucks

So many great pleasures from motocross that I could go on all night....

Going on the Internet and experiencing the sense of brotherhood, comradeship and shared respect for those that love the sport of motocross. Especially the warmth shown between US fans and International fans.
Also, noting the deep respect the fans have for the champions that risk their lives to provide the good racing they love so much.
Just read the Pourcel riding gear thread before reading this post - laughed out loud.....

Sounds simple, but after a week(s) of living in the city and staring at pixels all day/week & dealing with cretins 10 hours a day . . I have to plan a ride way in advance, get the train back to my parents place, borrow a mates van and then head out. Its nice just being in the countryside and out of the smoke. You kind of feel smug before you even start knowing all your mates are going to have stinking hang overs and you're going to be up, fresh as a daisy doing something way more fun. On the day, I love the first, decent, full throttle, 3rd/4th gear blast up a straight away. Standing up, leaning over the rear wheel ... That one 'brraap' that clears your brain, blasts out the cobwebs and unclots all the shit with the twist of the throttle. I can picture dirty, dead, toxic pixels coming out of my ears and mixing in with the roost. haha.

ahhhh. Must get out again soon.

This is just a mellow desert ride on an old rented XR400 from a recent trip to the States, but think it captures the vibe of the day pretty well (first time in the desert for me, good times).
