Finally.....#170

....finally got to see #170 Michael Leib tear up some US soil again yesterday. he was at Milestone. Seriously, the kid was flying!!! definatly one of the fastest ive seen practicing at Milestone. he was staying so low over the jumps and had it balls to the wall the entire time. over the big scrub that they have there he was sooooo low!!!! if would have straightened his bars just a little i think they would have hit the lip. i dont know if he has a deal going for next season or not, but if a major team doesnt pick this kid up they are missing out!!!

No worries Brad. He was on his Honda CRF250. Although he is currently contracted through Dec 1st with Husqvarna he is allowed to ride a Honda here. That's a about all I can say. He does not post on Vital but was pumped to read your post and me too for that matter. Thanks

Seems like the company is trying to get its mx program in the right direction though, maybe it will just take a couple years.

Agreed, nice to see the effort, but hard to get top riders with bike problems?

Hoping Michael tucked one of those Husky's away as a keepsake.... They may have their faults, but when he is 48 he will only remember the "good times."

And, although he doesn't post on Vital, perhaps he will do a write-up on his year in the GP's---first person. Would be an interesting read.

Mini Elsinore, got you covered. He writes a blog every week or so. Some great reads there although I may be somewhat partial. http://mleib170.blogspot.com/ Also he has a new website which just went up last week http://www.michaelleibmx.com/

The fact that he was scrubbing jumps should have been the clue that he was off the Husky.......

The Husky never had enough power to actually get off the ground.

You can't scrub a jump that you can't get over. I can tell you from first hand experience, Michael's Husky put him in that position.

You are correct!, but comparing that husky to a crf is bad one imo! Dude rips, but imo he will better off on a different bike than the husky.

lol. I think what GuyB is referring to is that Michael does not have practice Huaqvarna's here in the USA. Hasn't since he left in January although he has spent quite a bit of time here.

Mr Leib....what are Michael's plans for this coming season? Is he staying for a west coast or east coast class SX series....maybe do some ( or all? ) nationals? Just a 3rd person standing from the sidelines , but if he is hauling the mail on a CRF250.....he should be able to land something descent as far as rides go here in the states. I would figure maybe Husky is signing a pretty good sized check to run that bike , and I know Michael probably wouldn't say anything about them. And again......just a 3rd person type view here.......but I know he has the talent on a great Jap bike.....maybe he should stay here and see what he can get?

Jeffro, difficult questions but I'll take a wack it them and hopefully stay out of trouble, lol. Fact is this year has been a train wreck for him mentally for many reasons, most of them out of his control. Husqvarna MX2 team is set for next year and Michael is not on the team, that much he knows. He is training with Randy Lawrence right now and if I didn't know better I'd think Anaheim One was right around the corner. He is very focused. His best finish this year was a 7th at Gaildorf in moto 1 on a stock 2012 engine 37 hp against the factory 46+ engines. The bike broke moto 2 while in 6th. People don't know what went on there and in this business you are only as good as your results thus no interest. Honestly he'd like to stay in Europe on a good team with competitive equipment but as of now there aren't any options for him there. He has a few here and at this time it looks like he'll stay here. He really likes and does well at SX so his plan as of today is to do just that. As of now he is under contract with Husqvarna through Dec 1st, that's another issue, but there is no bikes for him here so they have been kind enough to let him practice on his 2010 CRF250. Unfortunately he is only allowed to practice on the bike so racing the Transworld Slam or Monser Race in Las Vegas are out of the question.
