I think that France choosing to announce their MXoN team, they may have selected a little too early. Pourcel did decent that second moto and you know he is only going to get better. He was starting to ride like J-Law for a bit (showing up and not racing, or DNFing) he went what like 13-5. While thats not the best he will improve. What if he is battling for top 5 each week from here on out, he was the best French rider in moto 2. I think picking Paulin may have been a mistake.
He did ok today, but unless he suddenly starts challenging for race wins in the remaining 3 GP's I think the current selection is the right one for France.

my point is, there was no passing and wherever you started, was pretty much wherever you finished. it is not a good event for basing finishing results on....
besides, Paulin's won an MX3 moto in the MXDN before....
Look at the article at MX-Pure.com!!
All the other french riders turned up for a PR photo even the ones who weren't picked, Pourcel was asked and he said no.
as does olivier, CP did a good, not excelent, race after a year of not racing, or not finishing races......that puts him in the good road but still with a lot to cover.......
then there's the morality of the team, how do you think the others would feel if by only doing one top 9 he got elected, it is a team race after all......
or should they delay it, risking all the founding and preparation of bikes, gear, staff etc., just because CP finished a mxgp in 9º........
the 3 best french riders for each class got the call, and was said by the captain that it is not definitive, depending in performance in the rest of the season and luck it can still change......i don't see where the mistake is at....
If he ever finishes top 3 then he will have to do some public appearances.
Right now this is the best team France has. But 6 weeks is a long time in MX. Anything can happen.
And Burnside is right. Marvin too is struggling in his 1 race come back. But his results in MX2 are more recent than CP's non existent MX1 results so in that regard the situation is a bit different.
The bottom line is the French are hosting the MXdN and they want to win. When the gate drops they will have the best current team, no matter of who we think deserve the ride.
Xavier, Anthony & Valentin will represent the country great and should do very well on home turf.
Maybe having CP as a go to man would be the best idea....
If something happened to any of the riders, CP could ride any of the machines 250/450 and still do very well on short notice.
i guess that from all the doughts olivier robert has had, musquin could well be one of the smallest ones, he has time to be at race mode, and racing for france in france could trigger that mindset that made him 2 times wc, boog is still not consistent enough to put 2 good motos at top level and pourcel has got to be the biggest for sure...!!!!!!!!
i also predict a few doughts for the other big favorit , if dungey quits suzuki he might not have a bike ready to race in time, cuz i dont see suzuki sending one, i think contracts usually leave that race out of the endding date....and that opens a lot of talk for sure......maybe another place....!!!!!
Now Musquin is a bit more of a doubt. He needs to get back to race speed but given Boog and Boissiere not doing great this is the best to put on the team.
Pourcel has a lot to prove still. Loket is not a good indicator most of the guys started where they finished and he only got Nagl due to AC's hard pass. I'll add He's not the most patriotic dude, unpredictable in his decision, quit a lot of races, arrogant and has a lot to do to win my support compare to the three selected.
