I have to admit i used to hate on MA800 pretty bad a few years back. I dont know if it was more his dad with the "believe the hype" crap that they entered the pro ranks with or the i'm a 150 pounds of muscle crap regarding his hole shots.

But I have to say the last few races i have actually been impressed with his riding on the KTM and his true desire for the sport and actually being humble when being interviewed. Out of all the silly season crap we have heard regarding RD5 to KTM that i dont think would be his best choice Decoster or not... I actually like this one.

As a true CR22 fan since his Yamadog days, I think this might be crazy enough to work and a good fit!!!!!
I don't understand how anybody could "hate" a motocross racer. Hate should be reserved for murderers and terrorists like the perpetrator of the Oslo killings, and people who promote hatred.

That'd be like asking; what's in it for James to have Larry bring on Kyle Chisholm or Kyle Regal...? Wink

Since we're in the game of speculation at Vital, I'd venture to say that Alessi may be a great training partner for Reed, that he feels comfortable with, knows his character, and trusts him... and can't be beat by him on a SX track. I remember them working together at Suzuki on starts, with Reed trying to get all of Mike's patented holeshot secrets Wink

I'd like to see Reed talk Mike into racing MX1 in 2013 and 2014 to bring home a MXGP championship to the USA, once again. But, only if Mikey has his 2009 speed and confidence back.

Had the chance to meet Mike a few times and at the Phoenix Supercross in 2009 he spent at least 10 min with my 5yr old son after the race talking about motorcyles and racing and who his favorite rider was...(he said Chad Reed)! He was the friendliest racer in the pits. His mechanic even gave him a 800 beanie cap to wear. He is aces in my book and would be a great fit with Team 22.

Mike was a Honda guy forever..... Until his father burned the bridge.
Chad can keep MA calm, and his dad out, I cant imagine Chad listening to Tony........

Put Mike on a PC backed Honda for SX, keep chad on the Factory bike, there is money saved.
Then when the outdoors come around, put them both on a factory Honda? I am not a believer that KTM is a shit bike, blah blah blah, I am sure it is a good bike that is fully capable of winning. You put Alessi on something he is comfortable with and keep him on that bike (not going from a efi 350 sx to a carb 450 mx....) He could really be a contender.

If Chad is smart he will make Mike sign with Arai or Shoei.... Kid needs the best helmet he can (no dis to suomy)

I would love to see this! Maybe looking down at a red front fender will make Mikey remember what it feels like to win. Smile

I think this could be good for Chad as well, maybe not as a rider but as far a Team owner goes. Most the teams out there would love to have Alessi on their team and if Mike ends up going to 22 than A. It shows what a great team they have over there B. Convinces riders and industry folk alike that this team is for real and not going away anytime soon and not just something Chad put together for a season or two.

I don't know if the Helmet, Bike Brand or PC v. Works bikes are issues...but...well put.

Another bike on the track promoting sponsors. Could also potentially bring in other sponsors to the team.

You would be surprised how fast bridges can get rebullt when a consistent top 5 rider wants to ride accross it.

Honda didnt want to offer a ride to Mike or Jeff when they turned pro.
Larry Brooks said "Ill take em" and they were offered a ride at KTM. Not sure how that is burning a bridge??

Mike would be a good fit for Chad. I don't think he can get Dungey and after him, who's left? Chad and Mike have a good history and he is in Tony's good graces at least. I say go for it Chad.

I think it would be a good idea for both parties. As mentally strong as Chad is if he can pass some of that onto Mike look out. Mike on a good bike with confidence he can haul ASS. Just ask James (Bubba) when he was running with him outdoors while on Susuki. He was giving James all he could handle. The kid is still fast as hell if he can put it all together. What better person then Chad to help him do that. Big Chad Reed fan for a long time now. I say, "Go for it".

Meet Mike at the Indy SX this year and was one of the nicest racers I've talked to, he stood and talked to me for like 15 mins just shooting the sh*t about moto. He went into his rig and brought me out a signed jersey too which was awesome! Guy has a good heart hope to see him do well in 2012 for whoever he rides with.

Mike and Tony are both good dudes, if you actually get to know them. Anyone that bags on either of them needs to go talk to them at the track one day.

I believe if mike was with Chad it would be a great choice for both parties and an extremely strong team. And also if they are on hondas mike would be doing a lot better than he is on the ktm, and he's not doing too bad on it. Just my 2 cents tho

That's interesting considering you race KTM's. Are you saying that because his style doesn't gel well with the bike?

so if Ryan Villopoto is under contract, Trey Canard is under contract, Ryan Dungey is too expensive and Chad Reed owns and rides for the team who would you suggest he hire that not be a "second place" guy?
