etc..

i think he hit it spot on. could ricky be in there? sure could. but if they are doing greatest suzuki of all time your gonna see GOAT and THE MAN in that list.

Not trying to toot my horn or degrade in any way these other legends, just figured I'd toss out some perspective. Huge respect for RJ, MC, Stand on it Stanton etc, but when it comes to living and breathing HONDA, good luck finding somebody more loyal than I have been over the years...

Bailey's kinda fired up. He's wrong about RJ never winning a 500 title as well. RJ won back to back 500 titles in 87 & 88. I know Bailey got hurt in January '87 but how would he not know that? No doubt Bailey was great but RJ and MC brought Honda a combined 11 SX / MX titles. They have to be 1 and 2 on any Honda list IMO.

About RC, seriously... when you carry the "Greatest of all Time" title, it pretty much TRUMPS all lists created afterwards.
I'm sure RC's ego will not mind this at all.

I think both MC and RJ should have been closer to the top, if not at the top. I remember them both as Honda riders.
Reading Baileys comment is impressive though. I wasn't into to MX/SX when he was racing. To me this is more a DC
walk down memory lane of "back in the day".

Times are different nowadays and riders simply can't do the things like Bailey mentioned. Article was still a good read.

At some stage everyone has been on a Honda...Bailey and JMB come to mind for Honda as does MC, Freddie Spencer, Steve Wise and Malherbe. RC is up there but he made his name in kawi ending with suzuki as was Magoo. Reed wont be far away now, but doubt he'll ever want to ride for a factory team again, his own team is far better and more fun.

Steve Wise won for Honda in SX, MX, Superbikers, dirt track and road racing. Not many (any?) can brag about that.

Other venues, you could drop Mick Doohan in there, the late, great Ricky Graham and Scott Summers

I was thinking the same about Malherbe. Kdub is awesome but he's the only one on that list to not win a title on the bike. RC needs to be on that list too. I'd move Lamson off to make room for him.

But I stand by the list, and the rankings, but the title should have been different, as you guys pointed out here.

Nonetheless, ranking Honda's best, most familiar, or even iconic racers is a no-win, all-win situation. But David Bailey himself weighing in? Priceless!

When I post the other list I came up with this morning -- all-time mini dads -- I am going to have to leave the country,

Nope. As good as Bailey was,he never peaked.Bailey was magic .And Johnson peaked later,but he could be known as Mr.Honda at the time.And it was f'd how they dropped O'Mara.

I just read the comments below the list...some lively discussion going on there, And DB himslf posting is dare I say...epic. Thats cool Sondy...Yeah I didn't think of Dymond but he's a 2 time champ for them. So many great riders rode a Honda. It's tough to make a list like that.

I think in the context/spirit of this list that maybe Stanton belongs right about where he is... 3 SX titles, 3 MX titles, 3 MXDN titles including one where he parked somebody on the last lap of a moto to score us the win. Oh yeah... two 250 USGP wins and multiple 500 National wins and then there was the year he rode the support class at Unadilla on a 125 and destroyed the field! And last but not least he won Daytona four consecutive times all on a Honda.
