JGR IS restricted by Yamaha. They are a YAMAHA Support team. They run Showa because Showa offers a program for large volume purchases.. This is why PC, MB1, FC, RG3 all run Showa.. It works good and they are able to get it cheaply.
KYB Isn't as good as SHOWA? Where did you read that? MXA? Here's an example: When Chad Reed started his team.. he wanted KYB suspension and PC motors. There were some other things going on, but, ultimately PC strong arms people who want their motorwork to use their suspension as well. Nothing really wrong with that, it's good for business and it was good for Reed to keep things simple.
You are confusing Bubba using 48mm vs the 50mm of Kawasaki as works vs production. Bubba's forks aren't production. The tubes are just a smaller diameter. Stock the Yamaha front end has a busy feeling and the rigidity of the 50mm amplifies that. Basically it doesn't work with that frame.
Pourcel will test.. come up with a setting declare it good, then go to a race and complain... He has gone in a direction that NONE of the other riders on the team have gone and he was insistent on it. Riders are the ones who come ultimately decide what is good and bad. Companies can make suggestions. Riders will blame the suspension/tuners but ultimately they approved of the settings that are now unridable.
In my opinion, manufacturers are polarizing people with their bikes recently because they are all looking for that next big thing. The honda's and Yamaha's are both revolutionary bikes, but they are also the two bikes that people either love, or hate.

The vid was excellent though!
TLD, Valli, JGR, Suzuki, PC, Honda, ect.. don't use showa, because they have a bulk program, lol. they do it, because it's better.
as for your Reed point... if Chad wanted KYB, I'm sure he could afford it.
This is a snafu situation, all the way around,,if he shows up sat, then rumor was wrong, if not then,,,
Maybe it wasnt, we shall see, and personally, hope hes out there racing, and close to the front,,,
Pit Row
On top of that, maybe his new team hasn't figured out how to work with him either. It seems like a team really needs to know how to get the best out of him and Mitch knew how he ticks both for setup and in his head.
haha.
Guess we'll know what Pourcel's doing in 4 days eh. Does anyone know what his dad is like? Is he normal or Tony Alessi'esq?
"The biggest rumor around the Grand Prix paddock last weekend was that Christophe Pourcel will return to the FIM World Motocross Championships in 2011. Seems that he might be in talks with the CLS Kawasaki team. We spoke to team manager Harry Nolte who did mention the team will probably have a second MX1 rider along side Ben Townley.
Although Nolte would not mention who it was they were talking to it all adds up to being Pourcel. Later in the day the rumor about Pourcel became even stronger when it was reports by American journalist Steve Matthes that in fact Pourcel would return to Europe. We also spoke to Bercy Supercross promoter Xavier Audouard and he mentioned they have inked a deal with the former World MX2 Champion to race Bercy at the end of November. It all looks like one of the most talented riders in the World is heading home."
