Tip jar for Vital?

The "interstatial ads" topic got me thinking. Especially ML's comment:

"And the site goes away, I lose my job, and no more content for anyone."

I use an ad blocker as I DESPISE ads. I also believe it is good to support an effort such as Vital.

Is there, or could there be a way for the ad averse amongst us to support the site? I would be happy to throw in a few dollars every now and again. Maybe a tip jar or something like that?

A format like YouTube has would make more sense . You don't want ads ? You pay . Not sure what's involved in setting it up like that and if this site has the resources to do so , it not being a behemoth like YouTube.  In any case I'm ok with the ads .

Been there and done that.  Amusing as hell but it always turns into a shit show.  There's lots of sewers to play in...I'm glad this place isn't one of them.Wink

Hopefully all the videos they post on their YouTube channel have enough followers in order to be monetized.

Selling merch requires "work". The site is already setup for advertising and that is the business model. Selling merch should be additive not replacement of income.

Agreed, but as I read your post...selling merch might be a decent little additional revenue stream for ML/Vital.  Put a couple of new folks to work.  I'd buy a complete Vital graphics set.  

I watch Vice Grip, Puddin's Fab Shop...and they appear to be making some decent coin from merch sales.  It surely would be work that the Vital crew don't have time to mess with...hence the new hires.  Just a thought.

Some forums have the option to donate to the site in exchange for “premium member” status. As a “premium member” you get a little tag under your username like “Vital Supporter” or “Premium Member”, access to a “premium members only” sub-forum and an ad free experience. Some also give new premium members a little welcome swag pack with maybe a hat and some stickers. It’s usually like $20/yr.

Don’t mind page ads. Do mind the 15-seconds every time a video is clicked. It makes me never click a video anymore.
