I don't even need to read the article to agree with the title of this thread.

But I'll read the article anyway just to confirm my belief of many people.

Horses are just big dogs. Torture wouldn’t be severe enough punishment for whomever did this.

I'll be the bad buy....

There are no wild horses in North America, only FERAL horses.  They don't belong here roaming without any control, they were introduced and our landscape is not meant to handle them.

I can't speak to that part of Canada but in much of the Western US they are way overpopulated and a huge detriment to the land and native wildlife.

I wish this would happen on the Owhyee Front in Southern Idaho, it'd be a huge boost for the native wild life that belongs there if the feral beasts were gone.

I'll take healthy, deer, elk, antelope, bighorn sheep, sage grouse etc. etc. any day over some feral horses.

Downvote away.

That's just not true.

Your search engine of choice will be your friend to learn how they got here.

I know that folks get all wound up about "cute cuddly animals" but that emotional attachment doesn't change the facts.

Not only do people suck....  many of them are sick in the head.

I'm not going to open the link, I don't need my heart broken.

Horses are such incredible creatures.   I grew up with/around them.

LB,

If what you are saying is true, I'm sure most people aren't aware of this.  So you are saying the feral horses dominate the area and push all the other wildlife out of their territory?  If true, that at least explains a motive for the person who killed these horses.  I love horses and couldn't imagine a motive to kill them before reading your post, but your points help me better understand why in the world someone would do this.  It sucks either way.

They compete with other grazing animals.

Here in the states, they round up and euthanize wild horses to keep numbers in check, but the story indicates that the horses kinda belong to an Indian tribe.

Yep, they are known for being very possessive of water holes and will fight to keep other animals away.  They trample all over them, drink up the water and move on to the next one.  Especially in arid environments typically found in the Western US.

They also overgraze.

Horses are also hearty animals with very few predators on the landscape that will bother them so the numbers seem to just go up and up and up.

At the risk of sounding like a complete prick, I don't have much sympathy for feral horses being shot.

*In the spirit of being better, I won't say anymore.  I fully realize this is a hot button topic and how others could very easily have a complete opposite view and I respect that.*

Spaniards brought horses and cattle here. There’d be no Cowboys if it weren’t for the Vaqueros.

Feral or not, there’s a better solution than shooting them dead. The Federal Government just shot a bunch of feral cattle in the Gila from a helicopter.

I just spent a few days with one of these poacher hunters in Northern Kenya where the poachers hunt Rhino for the Chinese.  I can't really put it into words as you had to be there to hear him say it, but when I asked him what they do when they catch someone poaching he very very casually just said, "we just kill them".  And I said "you guys kill them or the police/military kills them?"  He said "yes we kill them because wildlife is all we have here, and without wildlife we have nothing".

So to them, killing a poacher is as casual as smashing a mosquito on your arm.  It was pretty mind-blowing to hear someone casually explain how easy and necessary it was to kill another human for this crime.

I don’t know if you read the article.  I could understand folks being ok with euthanizing, but to be ok with shooting young horses and just leaving them where they fell?

We blast pigs and feed the coyotes and buzzards all the time.

Those are some destructive sons of bitches, breed like rabbits, and are all invasive. if, not from here.

Give a shit about the state of livestock and wild animals and the nature of things that are needed to live and let live…and all the while…

Some Gender Fluid Fuck from Portland is gonna show us how to live?

When I worked at Coke, (yes, any softdrink is  Coke in Texas), it was amazing how people would leave the break room.

Get done eating and just leave their shit like it was a restaurant.

The same people would steal food. Some dumbass stole dogfood sandwiches from me 4 times.

Your working for Coca-Cola, you can't afford a sammich?  Fuckers were driving a Merc, or a Caddy.

Fully On-Board

I turn the channel when the Animal cruelty commercials come on.

Not that I'm not interested, I cannot believe that folks would do the things they do to a Dog/Cat.

They are innocent as a baby that are full of unforgiving Love.

P.S, Have 5 Dogs, (PitBulls) 4 Cats that we took in from assholes that neglected them.

Hard to look away when you can make a difference
