with home grown tomatoes will be tonight. Air fried "freedom" fries as the side.  I will take a pic of the ready to serve plate.

This is exiting. I am also putting a camera out on my plants tonight so I can maybe get a glimpse of the critter that deprived me of my first ripe one. It's working on a second one so I left it on the vine as a sacrificial attraction.

It will be time lapse. 5 sec interval and should run all night. If I get something I will YT it and post a link tomorrow.

Liver and onions,  Round steak / stroganoff ,  I'll take a pass...

I miss growing and eating tomatoes especially in a BLT.

My slicers are tennis ball size but still green.  My grape are keeping the salads tasty.  You can not beat home grown tomatoes.

Oh man....someday I need to try FGTs again.   My first experience was in Charleston as we were touring the eastern coast....it was a FGT and crab sandwich.     I got food poisoning from that endeavor and puked my guts out for 24 hours.  Talk about wanting to die.     Couldn't eat for days after that.

As for BLTs.... they are proof God exists and he loves us.

We use thick cut bacon, sprinkled with fresh ground black pepper.  Gorgeous red/meaty beefsteak tomato's (wish I had home grown), crisp lettuce ....and with a Cali twist, creamy/heavenly Avocados.   Finished off with  a kiss of Dukes Mayo on the bread.

Damn it...I want one now.

I'd say try it with Japanese Kewpie Mayo, but you'd probably have to mortgage your house to buy it stateside. I think I paid close to $10 for some when I was in Idaho last summer.

We make an avocado spread too it's good.  When you add the avo it becomes a BLT&A

Brainwashing by the Avacado farming lobby...

Hmm, we've got all these things with little flavor, what are we going to do with them?

I know! We tell everyone that they make everything better.

Brilliant!

I texted the wife to place my order.

BLT, cucumber salad, fruit and a pie for dinner. I have been in the mood for tots, but it's hot as hades lately. I had homemade air fryer fries last night.

Mine were frozen. I tried the homemade fries and they were not good at all. I am going to try it again at a lower temp. The first time I used 425f. Lately I have been using 365f and the frozen ones come out really good. ( for frozen). I have a potato slicer just for fries.

My camera did not pick up any critters last night. Probably because I blocked the hole in the neighbors garage that faces my plants. That's where I saw his head pop out the other night. Could not tell if it was a rat or baby squirrel. Where do squirrels nest?

Ha ha!      ....but Avo's are SO good on so many things.

...and yes, I regularly make Avocado toast too.   Better than butter!    (and I love butter)

Since we're sharing pics....

Avocado toast with poached eggs and a side of thick cut bacon.

Blackened Salmon tacos with Avocado, Jalapenos, cilantro, diced red onions and avo crema.

Yes Virginia,    there is Avocado on that Burger.    (and a side of air fried tots)

image-20240703091127-1

Air fried chicken fajitas with poblano peppers/onions, tomatos, sour cream, cheese on lightly charred flour tortilla.  ....and of course, avocado!

Air fryers work so well with frozen foods....but yeah, you gotta watch the temps and time.   Machines vary too....If I follow recommended cooking times from the product , i'd be left with a burnt cinder.      Ours is the Cuisinart - AF, Oven, Broiler, Toaster, Convection.   On AF setting it cooks foods VERY fast.

I've heard of that mayo and need to find it local.   I'm certain one of the Asian grocery stores in San Diego will have it.

Its  Sam the Cooking Guy's go-to.  His endorsement forced me to try it. Definitely worth the search and the price.

If you haven't caught his YouTube shows, it's hilarious . He owns 2 or 3 restaurants in the San Diego area and re-creates his recipes and also some viewer submissions in a very "guy friendly" entertaining way. . I've done a few and everyone so far has been pretty damn great.   But he's a big believer in the Japanese Mayo deal

I've been eating avocado toast for years and I don't own any Birkenstocks, tie dye shirts, or Mac products lol. Hummus, avocado, homemade habanero pepper sauce, egg.

Perfect looking BLT, borg. I'm jealous of the home grown tomatoes. I wish I had the time/commitment for a backyard garden.

In east Tennessee, Grainger co. is well known for their tomatoes.

Big, juicy, tons of flavor.

And they've just hit the roadside stands, and store shelves.

Great in salads, on any kind of sandwich or burger, and omelets.

Or thick sliced with just a pinch of salt, and shoved into your mouth.

My biggest problem for years now is getting enough pollinators.  I've been planting these beds all around the place plus hummingbird feeders.  Not many takers.

That could be a game: Gay or Californian. Laughing

My hot tip for BLT's is I use the super thick cut bacon, bake it in the oven and use Dukes Mayo.
