My question is why aren't some of these being shot down? I’m sure many civilians are considering it.

As stupid as it may sound, it's illegal and a federal crime. Because of the FAA, it's no different than shooting at an airplane.

Dang, I didn’t realize that. But then again I’ve heard that  the FAA test you have to pass for drone operations is similar to that which is required to actually piloting a plane?

It's an online test for a recreational license, I doubt many drone pilots have a license!

Oh, ok. I had always thought that you need a license if you’re going to fly over a certain threshold. Not sure what these things are capable of as far as the height they can achieve.

So, has our government told us anything? Do they know anything? Is this the Chinese Balloon “Fail” all over again?

If it's non-commercial use or over a certain weight, an FAA drone license is required...

https://www.faa.gov/uas/commercial_operators/become_a_drone_pilot

There would be many drones flown by non-licensed pilots.

So, uh, sure…is that a typical drone?
Anyone familiar with that shape and it’s purpose?
Anyone here worked with any “vehicles” of this shape and pseudo-purpose?
Anyone from Boeing Space Systems?
🤣

Here’s what’s publicly available…but, I’m pretty sure the program has evolved into a vehicle that looks identical to that “drone” they’ve got up in P-town…

If you want to fly a drone professionally or commercially, you have to pass an FAA "flight" course.   It's no cake walk from what I've read.

There is a "recreational" license, but you are limited to 300 ft ceiling.  Basically a simple safety test.    This is what I have, I have no interest in anything further.   I only use mine as a "follow me" drone.

The FAA monitors YouTube and social media and will come after you if you are breaking those rules.   Some pretty hefty fines.

The newer drones are now flight monitored.

Once again this administration is not requiring non citizens to follow our restrictions.

It's obviously a plane..

"Drone down Portland Oregon I-84 highway December 13th" is complete a lie. That's why the comments are turned off.

Well, that’s fun!

And it’s not surprising, either. 🤣

No idea what the drone swarms are about in NJ.  I do know if it happens here in South Carolina it will be open season on those things and there will be a run on long range firearms and ammo.  It’d instantly turn into a huge sport.  And helicopter charters will be in high demand.

Just waiting for the what goes up must come down aspect when people start firing. The fact that our government is 1. Allowing this or 2.  Doing it is not excusable.

I agree, I honestly can’t believe this sort of activity is being permitted by our armed forces. What in the hell is happening?

I didn't click on it, but I saw a headline about an airport/s being shutdown in New York.

We as Americans are looking very complacent right now to the rest of the world.

I have three questions.

1. Who’s are they?
2. Why is nothing being done?
3. If they’re only coming out at night, where are they docking during the day?
