One of the drivers avg’d 19 mpg on the day…oh, and he’s not young…not a “Chevy guy”*…and has a driver’s suit that says “Ford”.

🤣

Corvettes are dope. New ones are cool but that modern supercar look all blends together for me. I want a super clean early c4 someday.

I love every. Gen Vett ever made . I think the 69 Stingrays are so cool and the 58’s front end is art work. 💯😎

A friend of mine builds 1 car a year to take to Barrett Jackson and it’s always a C1 corvette. A few years ago Kevin Hart was the one that bought it for a crazy $825,000.  Two people with too much money is a dream when auctioning a car. Every other year they sell for 50-60 % of that.

This 1980 was stolen from me and totaled by the thief after a car chase. This was a nice car, but very slow. Only 180 hp from the factory

IMG 2385 7.jpeg?VersionId=TKPu4WLZ Lj9Z2MseYvopvThank you! I bought that car as a basket case for $8500. I had about $11k total in it. I sold it to a guy that lived a few cities away. About 10 years ago I was cutting through a neighborhood to avoid traffic on my way home. I saw the back of an old corvette in a garage. The guy was doing yard work so I stopped and asked if he’d show it to me. I couldn’t believe it. It was my old car. The guy lives about a mile from me. He bought it with plans of making a vintage scca race car. It’s a basket case again. I’ve tried buying from him but he wants too much for it. He’s about 80 years old. I think some day he’ll come to the realization that he’s never going to finish it. He knows I want it. I hope he calls. This is a pic of where it sits today.

I thought I was gonna be a Corvette peep. My wife and I are both ‘63 models, so our plan was to buy a 63 split window in retirement. Figured we’d do the car show scene. Was never into cars, and I’m still healthy enough to ride, so we axed that plan. Still haven’t decided what to spend the Corvette money on  🤣

I have done some car shows, but most of the time if I plan on putting a car in a local show I drop it off and leave for most of the day.  I just struggle to sit there all day. I love cars but not always sitting there while people walk by.

I am a fan of the C8 and will be buying one next spring. A used Stingray in black..(I was planning to buy one this year but my wife decided she wanted to add a Yukon diesel to the fleet).

Also I will be buying a pair of white new balance, jeans shorts and a corvette hat to complete the look and plan to pick up my kid from school wearing this exact outfit..(for maximum embarrassment)..

Had a neighbor who had the same year.

He kept it clean, and very well maintained.

Really pissed him off though when my Trans Am ate him up every time.

Not very exciting to drive. But I’ll tell you what 140mph felt the same as 70mph on the HWY.

I’m picking up a rare one this week, c4 zr1 1993 anniversary edition. Ruby red inside and out as that was the anniversary package colors.

Zr1 is the 4 cam 32 valve lotus designed v8 ripper. 7200 rpm redline. Absolute underrated ripper. 180mph car in 1990!

My best friend had a 93 ZR1. He got it for a steal in 97ish. Less than half of the original MSRP with practically zero miles on it.  The market for them back then was nil because hardly anyone noticed the difference between them and a ‘standard’ Corvette. I think he made a decent little profit when he later sold it, though.

If I remember, he sold it because only a few Chevy dealers in each state were authorized to work on the engine and even off warranty, other Chevy dealers wouldn’t touch it. He got tired of taking it 2-3 hours away for even basic services.

I truly think if they had used a wide body design on the zr1 with bulging flares and other trick aero styling the zr1 would have gotten so much more attention.

But because it blended in, it went unnoticed.

Too many people want the “cred” of being a car guy not actually being a car guy. So the sleeper look I think killed its sales.

Honestly perfect example is the 96 grand sports… they bring huge money and they were literally an appearance package with fender flares. Nothing special over a standard 96 6 speed corvette. But they bring more than clean zr1s and zr1s have a lot more going on to them.

The 93 ZR1 is actually wider at the rear, but most people don’t notice it. He bought it basically sight unseen from a dealer in Ohio who said pretty much the same thing, the average Corvette buyer at the time was more interested in just showing off the basic Corvette than in real performance. The dealer wasn’t getting any interest in the car and it wasn’t priced much higher than ‘standard’ Corvettes he had been selling for the previous 6 months or more. He agreed to put it on the hauler of cars he was sending for consignment to a dealer in Seattle, and the truck would stop at his place before going on to its final destination. They pulled the car out of the trailer, fired it up to make sure no warning lights were on, did a look over to confirm practically new condition, and he bought it. Beautiful green color.

I only drove it a couple of times but for me it was like driving a top fuel dragster that handled like it was on rails and could stop so fast that your fillings might pop out of your teeth compared to the vehicles I was driving back then!

That’s an awesome story. Yeah they widened it but they blended it in so well you can’t tell unless you really know what you’re looking for.

Super cool cars. I’ve been playing with c4’s exclusively for the last few years. I just like them, the clamshell hoods, super tall and wide door sill that makes getting in and out tough, narrow foot box, all that I think makes them cooler for it!
