While I agree with what people are saying, almost everyone is missing the point. I am also fine with rising costs of riding tracks, it's much better than the alternative (nowhere to ride).  That said, his kid is riding a mini/tiny track only.  I'd think it's reasonable to have a system where a kid who is not riding any main tracks, has a slightly lower rate to ride.

Thank you Seth. That is the exact point I was trying to make. Maybe it was my wording that didn't really get that point across properly. Lord knows I've had plenty of times where my wording made it seem like I was saying something completely different than what I was actually trying to say Laughing

Thank your fellow riders for this.  I’d bet my paycheck it got changed b/c of abuse. I.e. Dads paying for the “kids track” but letting little Johnny ride all day on the main or vet tracks. Tracks can’t afford another policing system to keep people honest, it’s easier to just make it Pay One Price for everyone.

To me it’s a convenience fee that’s pretty cheap in the grand scheme of things. Where else can you go ride on someone else’s property that they have taken the time and effort to provide US a place to enjoy? Not sure where else you can pay $40 to rip up someone’s land that they’ll have to fix, squat on their toilets that they’ll have to clean, leave trash that they’ll have to pickup/empty/dispose of, hire floggers and EMT that they’ll have to pay, etc. etc.

my 2 cents

Ride on!

The only cost on practice days that gets to me is the spectator fee.   Not sure why my wife has to spend $10-15 so I have a person there In case something goes wrong.  No local track used to charge this, now they all do.  Not the end of the world.  But my family of 4 with two kids riding a kid's track that is almost never worked on is like $120-$140 bucks just in fees.   We just go to the local ohv mainly when they want to ride.  $5-$10 for the whole car and kids tracks are the same basic quality.

Still people cheat the tracks by signing up for one practice group and sneaking out into other groups. They'll be the one's who get it shutdown because they are increasing the tracks operating costs.

I have a couple pals that do weekly rentals at LACR

in Palmdale.

My usuals $60 a pop, & the other guys $50 for either big bike tracks.

The Mini track rents for $30 a head.

Regardless of track, they’re watered & prepped.

Usually 10-2 or summer’s 9-1.

The bothersome thing lately seems especially now that it’s summer in SoCal, is that it gets HOT by 10:30ish…

The last several times I’ve arrived for the $60 rental

& the tracks NEVER ready on time.

By the time it’s ready it’s getting HOT.

My pal who does this, does so as his little business so to speak, yet

I’ve choose to stay away until I hear the Tracks fully ready on time.

On time to me, is watered & prepped by either opening time of 9 or 10.

Anything less is BS for the fee, as again it gets HOT quickly.

Plus, hearing the Track guy gets tipped makes it worse to me, as again, it’s never on time.

Why tip when it’s this way?

I know who's $60 rentals you're talking about.

Surprised to hear it's $30 a head for the mini track on a private rental day. That's a bit laughable after paying $40 for a regular practice day Laughing

That's a huge bummer the track hasn't been ready on time though. I'd expect the track to be ready on time for a private rental and if it's not going to be a decent heads up should be given and I'd hope they'd either give you the extra time at the end to make up for it.

Why would it be any cheaper for a smaller bike?  Everyone is using the same facilities, same dumpster, portopotties, ect.  I worked at a track when I was in high school, and almost all the "incidents" that occurred involved little kids, so I understand why the price should be the same.

On another note, knowing what it costs to run and maintain a track facility, that fact that most places are less then $40 is still a bargain!

Pala 5 ride pass $120 = $24 per ride. Single ride $30

Cahuilla 5 ride pass $140 = $28 per ride (up from $25 just a couple weeks ago). Single ride $35

Buy ride passes or ask your local track to offer them at a discount.

Been riding every track in SoCal since I was 3. I don’t ever remember a time little bikes cost less? The only place that can get bent on charging 40 bucks is Lake Elsinore. Terrible prep unless it’s pro day.

Before LACR was brought back to life, down in the pit, the mini track was for 50cc bikes and 60’s weren’t allowed on the track. The 50’s did have a cheaper practice fee and also race fee, but 60’s and 80’s were always the same price, from my memory.
Now that it is a Mini track, I do feel that there should be a cheaper practice, but they split practice on the vet track for minis only so that would be tough to police.
On that note, it has not been brought up yet, but at LACR, they give you a wooden nickel at each practice and 10 of them gets you a free practice. So basically it’s only $36 to practice…
