It seemed like the ATL Motor Speedway round had positive feedback. Any idea why it was taken off the schedule? Any chance it comes back?
i enjoyed that venue, hoping it makes a return.
I also enjoyed it and preferred it over the Mercedes Benz dome myself.
It is blasphemy that ATL doesn't have SX. From the 70's thru 2023 (or 4 can't remember), the Atlanta SX as the Capital of the South sat amongst the iconic SX stops such as SoCal, Seattle, Detroit, Dallas. I can't exactly remember, but Atlanta only missed 2 years during that 50 year run (1988 and 1989 where we had Arenacross at the OMNI when they were building the GA Dome as Fulton County replacement venue)....the other stalwarts (other than SoCal) probably skipped more than Atlanta in that time. It's a shame and I still don't know the answer other than Arthur Blank won't allow or its too expensive at the Benz. If not SX, then why not SMX at Atlanta Motor Speedway?!?
Heard that the Speedway didn't like the residual dirt that got on the tarmac, was hard to clean.

The last year I attended the sx at the speedway the crowd looked small. In 2021 when they ran 3 races in one week the numbers were better. MX in Georgia has been falling off since 2008. Sellouts at the GA. dome in 2006 then maybe 30,000 each night at the double header a few years later. We have lost 80% of our local tracks.
That venue was awesome. Tracks were creative. Dirt was good. Long lap times. When it was removed from the schedule, I was really hoping to see it come back as an SMX round.
Didn’t ATL have two (2) SX races one year ? How do you go from that to zero ?
Yeah, now that you mention it, I do remember a double-header several years ago. Then there were the "residency" races during covid at AMS.
Georgia Dome was peak Supercross. The Mercedes Super Dome wasn't half bad either. Some strings need to be pulled to bring it back.
Yes. I’m just north of ATL and the choices were talking rock, Shannon, scrubndirt, and highland hills. All were a haul. Just not fun riding and then driving 1 to 1.5 hours home.
Two things;
I talked to people @ ATL Motor Speedway. They said it is the promoters decision to host or not host an event at their facility. If a promoter is inclined, they contact the staff at the facility and arrangements can be made. I’m sure dates and $ are a primary driver.
2nd, I see Monster Jam is being hosted at the facility in April. If there was an issue about mud and hygiene from an SX race I can’t see how Monster Trucks would be better.
With the new Dome on the racers side getting in and out of he pits was a 1000% PITA with security check points causing major long lines and delays.
