Tariffs on Canada

I get all of what you are saying, but how do you put that genie back in the bottle? How do you bring back good paying manufacturing jobs without skyrocketing inflation? How do you sell American steel and things like that when other countries can cut you off at the knees with pricing? How do you bring the economy up as a whole up to a point where people who aren't working these mythical well paying manufacturing jobs can afford the things that now cost double what they did in the past?

Like I said, I get WHY this would be a good thing, I just don't understand HOW that happens without an absolutely astronomical investment from the government, and subsidies to keep costs in check. Then we are right back to the core issue, taxes to keep the whole machine afloat.

Edited for grammar.

It's not about getting all of manufacturing back.

Just like when these agreements and allowing more cheap manufacturing in without tarrifs or low tariffs happened it was never ment to allow them to offshore everything it was supposed to be a little bit of everything to spread the wealth and keep things cheap. It was never ment to take all of the textile industry, chuncks of the auto industry, make it to wher steel and aluminum production was cheaper to send scrap from new york to china Japan ect and then ship it back to new york then produce it here. This was never ment to be skilled labor this was ment to be trinkets, hardware, utensils, cheap shoes and clothing and auto parts for people that no matter what you do will always be tight on money. If company's are charging a premium for their goods and wares then they should produce a fair share of them here to support the people buying them. All of these companies can produce thier premium priced products 100% here and still turn a profit without raising prices. We need to get back to the middle ground. Tariffs are the tool you use to do it. There maybe some pain but our economy handled covid and biden. Time to rip the band aid off and do the right thing.

But lets be honest the left and right in govement never told us the real plan in all these trade agreements was to enrich themselves and the corporations

This is exactly what kills capitalism.

Capital flows like water to areas of least resistance ( regulations, unions, exchange). Capitol will always flow to cheap labour. Until cheap labour is replaced with automated labour. Race to the bottom. The winner = consumer.

Not exactly, thats not how it was until we allowed it. This is a real life example of losing your rights little by little without ever noticing. They keep offshoring a lil at a time until we're here. As the saying goes follow the money it came out of our hands into politicians and corps by way of cheap slave labor. The US is just well off enough that it took years for us to feel it. Again it's time to rip the band aid off and act like adults again.

Titan is right on the money. Need to reduce the govement, the unelected bureaucracy and bring back skilled labor and manufacturing.

Just curious, how much did each country spend on that help?

The countries that helped - how many of them have/had US military bases ?

How many of them had been getting aid from us for years at that point. Theres a big difference between a little help and funding and being the world bank and world police at all times

Oh Canada! Man, I was getting in to some light hearted ribbing here. Obviously it’s gone completely sideways. Let’s try to remember, “Love the neighbor”.

You calling someone an idiot…

Or, better yet, questioning someone-else’s take on anything…

CLASSIC! 🤣

Thanks. That was a good laugh session.

Unelected bureaucrats like Musk?

PS: This USA a.k.a. The world bank has $35.46 Trillion on debt and that has little to do with Ukraine or illegals. But the new ruler wants to fix the things the same way old kings did. Colonizing interesting pieces of land, which are full of minerals that will enrich him (off course mostly personally). Whether you do it like Leopold 2 of Belgium, in Congo because you think the dark people don't realize the value. Or you do it like Trump in Ukraine, over corpses and on blood-soaked soil. To supposedly get back what the USA spend to keep Ukraine “safe". It is both the same and shows what a disgusting figure Trump is. Not to mention his lust for conquest towards Greenland.

Funny how Trump tells Z to go fuck himself on live TV, and suddenly the EU thinks it is a good idea to come up with plan to end the war in Ukraine.

The whole world is happy to sit back and let the USA finance everyone else's safety and security.

Then they claim Trump is the most horrible person on earth for ending their free ride.

And miraculously, they grow up and decide to act like adults and pay for their own shit.

Did you ever thought about the fact that you guys have always acted like "Supah Americah", starting wars everywhere and if needed even under falls premises. Besides starting them, you are pretty good in stepping in uninvited "to keep world peace". Besides WW2, where Brits and Canadians fought together with Americans side by side and most countries showed their thanks by paying somewhat by using the Marshall plan. Oh and because we're so good friends we Europeans didn't started a war when you accidentally dropped a nuke on Spain (luckily it didn't went off).

For "World Peace", you dropped yourself in all sorts of wars with Asian countries and fought against everything that smelled communist. People died doing that. Now the new Guru tells his followers that the world is using America like a condom, only when it needs it. But to be honest did you fought for yourself (against communism) or for someone else (world piece?) in Vietnam? Did you went to war against Al Qaeda/Taliban in Afghanistan for your own revenge or for world piece? I think you fought for all the people who died at 9/11, it's a little pity that the new Guru evacuated the troops without a plan and made that all those bloodshed's and that the guys and girls who returned in a bodybag made a worthless sacrifice because the land is now run by the Taliban. The guys who made 9/11 happen.

You are all conned by a conman.

That was my point - think of how many could have died if communism had spread farther than it did.

I suppose you are a big fan of communism and would prefer it had?

You're rambling and talking like a troll who doesn't know what to answer. Because the whole fact was. You've been always been fighting for your own interests against communism. But now the Guru puts America in another direction and seems not interesting in fighting communism anymore, so I suppose he's a big fan of Russia, China, North Korea... Not really a surprise because all those countries are dictatorial nations, something he would love to create in "the land of the free".

Conman or not, he's the one making your Country and the rest of Europe start paying for their own shit. No more free rides.

Reminds me of a teenager living at home with mommy and daddy paying all their bills. They think life is easy, and that they know everything.

Then they have to move out into the real world, and suddenly realize paying for your own shit is not easy. And then they get mad at mommy and daddy for making them move out.

Trump is your mommy and daddy, you are the teenager. In case it was not obvious.

Oh ok, so the US was fighting communism for its own interests. Could that be because so many other countries weren't capable? Perhaps.

The ignorance of your rant about Trump becoming a dictator in the US is beyond comical. What he is doing is within his executive powers, but the Democrats don't like it when a non-Democrat uses them. If there are any concerns they can be challenged in the US courts. You also rant about Musk not being elected, but Trump having Musk assist and start the DOGE program was not only known by the voting public, it was a significant part of why he was elected.

You just sound like a trust fund kid who has had his allowance taken away because he's 40 and behaved like a teenager.

European leadership has been weak for far too long, and its being exposed now and panic is setting in.

At least Belgium has Bart de Weber, but are you wise enough and brave enough to listen, or are you going to continue to swallow the media propaganda?

Also, Trump was willing to meet with Kim Jong Un, which no other US leader was even open too. Can you not realize it is an important first step to opening a diplomatic door?

Titan for the win!

You realize that the USA his debt is, for 23% in hand of foreign nations. "Start paying for their own shit" sounds pretty ludicrous if you know that little fact. Knowing that the USA is for $35.46 Trillion in debt, the USA isn't a good mommy and daddy.

Trump is your dirty uncle that puts his hands in your pants or your nieces. But that was already obvious. Like he once said: "Grab them by the pussy".

Correct, we are $36T in debt.

So like any adult, Trump is cutting off the credit card the USA has been using to cover your ass.

We have enough problems of our own to pay for, we don't need to keep paying for yours as well.

The EU has more than enough GDP and population to protect itself, WW2 ended 80 years ago. Time to move out on your own and grow up.

Why do you think foreign nations hold so much US debt?

The reason is because it is seen as a good investment.

As math would tell you, if you had bothered, the other 76% (roughly) of US debt is held by domestic US investors. Which group do you think would want to see the US debt brought down more? Which group do you think the Trump administration is serving? You are aware that cutting wasteful government spending was a focus of his campaign right? Why would you think he would not go forward with it?

You sure have a problem with Trump, don't you?

Just to let you know how you came to this debt: Israel got from the start of his nation till 2022 $317.9Billion of money in USAID and $225.2 billion in US military aid. On March 1 Marco Rubio, Secretary of State gave them some extra presents.

I have signed a declaration to use emergency authorities to expedite the delivery of approximately $4 billion in military assistance to Israel. The decision to reverse the Biden Administration’s partial arms embargo, which wrongly withheld a number of weapons and ammunition from Israel, is yet another sign that Israel has no greater ally in the White House than President Trump.

Since taking office, the Trump Administration has approved nearly $12 billion in major FMS sales to Israel. This important decision coincides with President Trump’s repeal of a Biden-era memorandum which had imposed baseless and politicized conditions on military assistance to Israel at a time when our close ally was fighting a war of survival on multiple fronts against Iran and terror proxies.

The Trump Administration will continue to use all available tools to fulfill America’s long-standing commitment to Israel’s security, including means to counter security threats.

This is support to a country that keeps an ethnic cleansing. Every normal adult would cut that cost first instead of the help to a country that got invaded. It is weird that you eat the "costs" talk, but he is a conman after al. That he chooses to support a invading country (Russia) that is maybe not even that big of a surprise, the USA knows everything about invading countries. What you don't see is what it costs you over time. It costs you lots of money. This is only USAID helping the normal humans survive while you, do you.

Vietnam: $184.5B - Afganisthan: $160.9B - South Korea: $119.9B - Iraq: $100.6B

PS: The only reason Hawaii isn't Japanese territory is due to a Jewish German Albert Einstein his theory and a Belgian Edgar Sengier who smuggled tons of uranium to New York. For President Eisenhower it was obvious that working together, made the western world a better place and America would become the center of that new western world. Trump is losing that place for the U.S.

So Israel engages in ethnic cleansing, but there are Arabs in Israel who serve in government and even on the supreme court there ? That's an interesting take on cleansing....

How about change that to "BEAID", get your Country into $36T in debt (or whatever the adjusted GDP difference would be), and then "you, do you"?

And yes we have wasted TRILLIONS of dollars on wars that we probably started, wasted TRILLIONS of dollars fighting wars we should not have been involved in, and wasted MANY MORE TRILLIONS of dollars on defending the EU since WW2.

You mentioned it yourself, the USA is $36T in debt. We need to figure out our own shit before we are BK.

"The United States has more than 40 military bases in Europe. The majority of these bases are in central Europe, particularly in Germany, Italy, Poland, and the United Kingdom".

You really don't think having 40 military bases in the EU for the past 80 years is not "defending Europe"? We have been doing it for 80 years. Why the fuck do you think those US military bases are there to begin with?

How many military bases, of other Countries, are in the USA you wonder? 0 is the answer.

Now you mention, the Congolese people would like to have the Belgian army back in their country. If you follow the situation than know that Paul Kagame (President from Rwanda) gets money from probably China or Russia to support the M23 Rebels. Those Rebels get into Congo and have already a few cities under their control, but they are there for the minerals like cobalt. If you look at it from the outside: it is probably something like that Kagame gets decent money (in African eyes), the rebels get pennies and the people who are getting the cobalt for these cheap prices are making millions.

Arabs in Israel generally have a better quality of life and more freedom than Arabs in Arab countries.

Just for fun, how many countries in the world are clamoring for Belgium's help? Perhaps the people for the Congo can give a show of (their ancestors) hands?

Now you mention, the Congolese people would like to have the Belgian army back in their country. If you follow the situation than know that Paul Kagame (President from Rwanda) gets money from probably China or Russia to support the M23 Rebels. Those Rebels get into Congo and have already a few cities under their control, but they are there for the minerals like cobalt. If you look at it from the outside: it is probably something like that Kagame gets decent money (in African eyes), the rebels get pennies and the people who are getting the cobalt for these cheap prices are making millions.

What Belgian army?
