Does anyone know where this angled passage drilled into the venturi goes? I'm trying to clean this carb out and I don't how to test for a blockage becuase I don't know what circuit it feeds.

Pilot jet
Thats what I figured and was afraid of. There must be a pinhole there that I can't see becuase of the varnish.

Depends how plugged it is but ultrasonic cleaners work great for clearing out passages

Use a single strand from a wire brush and try to clear it .remove pilot jet and put the straw from a can of carb cleaner in its hole, it should spray out that hole in front of the slide.

I ended up having to dip the carb in Berryman Chem Dip and clearing the passage with a welding tip cleaner. The Chem Dip softened it up and the tip cleaner was just barely strong enough to clear the blockage.

Yes, good stuff. Been using it since the 80’s with excellent results.
