3/5/2024 6:50pm 2024 Ktm 500 exc with 14 hrs on it; pulled valve cover to check valve lash found what I could only think to describe as rust On the cam gear and only on the cam gear … can anyone help confirm or deny?

8/7/2023 6:13pm Not to be a dick, and I don’t know Factor E personally but he’s helped me along with tons of others on this side of the forum. I don’t think I’ve seen him even post anywhere else on the site, he knows his way around bikes. Kind of a stupid response for someone offering their advice.

8/7/2023 6:35pm Did you powder coat or paint anything motor mount or chassis related? How’s chassis ground? Are you sure the passages in the carb body are clear; vapor blasting media loves to pack into orifices... Lapping Ti valves is a huge no go and honestly those valves are dead now... even if they seal right now they’ll last very minimal run...

7/27/2023 8:37am Same 2mm line tends to be optimal and the only correct way to read if a main jet is rich or lean is with a new plug and a plug chop. The tan color tends to appear on plugs that are run for a period of time.

5/14/2023 9:17pm Most main bearing failures I’ve seen on 4 strokes ;especially ones that cause enough damage to need a case need a piston... with the amount of metal shavings being pushed though the engine it normally causes some pretty heavy scuffing to the skirts and bore... I’d still recommend a leakdown test itll pin point a valve/ring seal problem instantly

5/14/2023 8:55pm What was the reason for the rebuild? what color is the smoke? Sounds timing related.. I’d run a leak down test to make sure everything’s ok with valves/ rings... what was replaced during rebuild?

3/31/2023 6:15am Run a leak down test on the engine first. What style Keihin are you running? Could be a jet block oring problem... Its always a good idea to put a little bit of case bond on both sides of the Reed block to eliminate possible air leaks.

9/21/2022 10:21pm A TPS is nothing more than a potentiometer (see attached picture) as the wiper rotates across the circuit it creates higher and lower resistance depending on its location. If you’re not getting resistance between blue and black then I would assume the tps is bad or there’s a break/ pinch in the wire... the resistance between the blue and black...

9/18/2022 12:37am With the valve face that worn you can bet the valve seat is that worn as well... and with a 1.60 shim already you’ll more than likely need the seats replaced rather than just recut...
