Bike Washing question

I saw in the video how he lays his bike down to wash under the front fender and underneath the frame.

Is there any way to do this with out running the bike of gas? I was told it is not good to lay it down if there is still gas in it.

It seems like a waste of gas to run it dry just to lean that far over.

BTW, that bike was fuel injected so no need to turn the gas off.

For carbed bikes, like sadi above, turn the gas off. What runs out of the carb overflow won't hurt anything and the little that might make it to the engine won't either.

You'll have a much nicer bike if you follow his example. Although, I thought I'd learn something new from the vid. I guess I did learn how to pose with my bike cleaner bottles.

Ive never used muc-off. Simple green is some of the best shit you will come across. You dont even need a pressure washer it works so well. plus ive found it still works bettter than most when it diluted 1:4.

I use no touch tire foam on my tires, under the fenders, on the rad guards, and on the plates. Mud doesn't stick to it as quickly, and it's easier to wash off.

Skip the Simple Green and head over to the laundry detergent aisle for some Shout Stain Spray in the 32oz pump bottle. It's is very inexpensive, works like magic and isn't caustic like SG and Purple Power degreasers, which attack anodized aluminum surfaces.

Hose off the accumulated mud, then let the bike drip dry for a while before spraying the entire bike with Shout. Wait about 15 minutes then hose down the bike. No scrubbing is required for fresh dirt stains. They just melt away.

I have also heard Mr. Clean . Any one else try it?

Mr Clean is what I've used since the 70's. It work great, wet the bike down spray it with Mr Clean let it sit for a few minutes the blast off all the muck. Then mop'n'glow for the shine. Works on the hauling rig too.

I talked to one of the privateer team mechanics at Budds this past year. He said thats what they use on their team bikes, and it worked great (which was why I asked). I cant remember which one it was, unfortunately...just that they were on Hondas.



Right now, Im in the process of trying out Slick offroad wash, which is what Pro Circuit uses. A buddy of mine got some and tried it out, and it works awesome. Im recovering from injury at the moment and not back riding yet (and my bike is clean), so I havent had a chance to try it out for myself yet. It runs $5 for a pack, which you mix with a gallon of water in a garden pump sprayer.

You guys should all try Slick Offroad Wash. It is definitely the best thing I have ever used, especially with the red clay mud we have here in Hawaii. I have tried everything, even detergents and Slick works better! $5 makes one gallon and I can usually wash 3 bikes with it. I mix it in a pump garden sprayer and can wash my bike start to finish in under 15 minutes. Every shop here in Hawaii carries it now and apparently Pro Circuit made it their official cleaner. Pretty legit stuff....
