What a stupendous final 

First 75mins I was thinking, wtf French playing at, they looked half a sleep, then boom 

It could of gone either way, at first I thought I didn't care who won, then France scored, I found myself shouting at the TV egging France on, I never thought I say that 

Without a doubt, the best final I have seen and have to tbh, one of the best  overall worldcups for sure

First time that I can ever say that I woke up looking forward to watching soccer on TV. Great watch, for sure. 
 

Still not a huge fan of the sport on television, but I’m glad I got to see this match.

The goals scored in a penalty shootout are not classed as goals as such.

I'm from Argentina, and can tell you the whole country went NUTS yesterday. So happy for Messi, after losing the 2014 WC Final everyone started dissing him, but my man never gave up. An absolute legend.

Just an American/tradition thing mate. We have the majority of our professional sports down here played at night, and never see that bullshit on anyone’s faces 🤷‍♂️

Not a huge soccer fan, but my 15 year old is a really good player at the high school level, so we got more into it than normal this year.  Actually enjoyed watching it more than I usually do, but the officiating was terrible.  So inconsistent throughout the games and from ref to ref.  Overall the refs were really bad.  For example, if you are gonna call a penalty in the box, it dang well better be a legit penalty.  That first penalty against France that gave Messi the first PK was a joke IMO.  And I hated how the announcers almost always agreed with the refs, at least on the US broadcast.  Even on a terrible call.  In American football if the announcers see a bad call they will call it out.  

Also the flopping and the antics really take away from the game, can't stand it.  I am sure these guys are tough, but sheesh.  High school games here (at least in Northern California) are extremely physical, and no one is flopping or asking the coach to bring out the cold spray, lol.  I think they should review the flops post game and take away playing time in the next game or something, they really need to figure out a way to take that out of the sport.  I think they handed out only a couple of yellow cards the entire tournament for "simulation" including one in the final I believe, but it happened 100s of times throughout the tournament.  Anyway, still enjoyed it, thought the final game was great.

I think Neymar got red carded in a recent Premiere League game for diving.

Theoretically it's like painting the area in front of a fighter planes windshield flat black.

Originally it's supposed to help absorb sunlight, and keep the glare off the cheek bones under the eyes. 

Now it's mostly to help them look like bad asses.
