I have been lifting, biking, and running a lot lately and have become tired all the time, someone told me its lack of protien, he said I should take in as many grams as my wieght, 220 gms seems like a ton, anyone else hear this?
Its been over a month and my legs still do not have it, they feel fine and then into the run / bike they give out.
In one month I have lost 20 lbs
I limit myself to 1500 calories ( slip up now and then with vodka, I know I know )
I am 41, 6'2" 225 now, there is no real # I am trying to get to, I just want to feel better.
Any sites that will tell me how many cals a 1 hr run / bike I am burning.
Thanks in advance.

you'll burn around 200 cals/mile running. Biking is much less.
Of course, everyone is different, but that's about what the tables will say.

200# person runs 1 mile (at pretty much any pace) and it's about 200 cal/mile.

It's all an estimate. There are lots of charts out there for this stuff. Google calories burned and you'll get your choice.
200 calories, sheesh thats one brownie or good cookie. LOL
A lousy diet could also be the reason for how tired you are. 20 pounds in one month is a bit much.
Gotta think positive!
Another good tip is to do a cardio workout in the morning if you can - before you eat anything - at least once a week. Your body will burn off some fat because it needs to find energy.
When I'm working out a lot I eat tons of non-sugar carbs and low fat protein. I don't pay attention to how much or calories and I don't pay attention to how much I'm supposedly burning in workouts. Seems to work for me.
Don't eat enough red meat and it's easy to get anemic with heavy exercise.
I think I might be trying to kill two birds with one stone. Anyway if I am not in bed by 11:00 I am going for another run!!
Pit Row
Ellipticals are beasts on calorie burning. I do 250 calories in 15 minutes on "moderate" setting, calc'd for my weight of 173lbs.
Feeling tired and run down might be diet-related, but not necessarily lack of proteins.
I'd start by first defining what it is exactly your trying to get out your exercise, then you can tailor your exercise and diet regimen to that.
Mine is for motocross, so stamina and weight (I ride 125s) is the goal, so it's based mostly on cardio and toning specific groups, rather than lifting.
Each 15 minute MX practice session.....215.
2 Hour practice session....950, that;s 3 - 15 minute practices - full speed after a 7 minute warm up and 30 minute breaks. I'll pull another 500 cals on the cool down....easy.
A 12 hour race day is silly....like 4800...I'm scanning restaurants on the way home....just want to eat anything.
i think morning runs are a great ROI. that is good advice given.
watch the amount of calories you are getting from fat! That is my biggest problem, I should be around 205 right now, if I could run in the mornings and stop eating ice cream 2 days a week!
i've burned 5,000 in 6 hours many a time.
you can chart your improvement scientifically.
this is what I use...Polar F-11
If you're serious.....
Being a bit sore however is just part of the game for those that train daily at various sports/exercises
Im not in total agreement with everyone about the 200 cal burn on a 1 mile run. It really depends on how hard you run. And of course ones weight.
The good news: 3500 calories equals a pound. Either weight gain or loss depending on wheather or not you consumed or you burned 3500 cals. And more good news. As you become more fit you will burn more calories at rest than a person who isnt as fit.
My problem is idle hands at night, but I am hoping that working out in the a.m. will make me go to bed easier at night.
I'm about your size (a few pounds lighter and a few inches taller) and there were some weeks I took in 3500 calories and I felt like I was starving. It's a really good book and I have referred several people to it who didn't want to hire a personal trainer. It was very informative with how your body works and nutricion. Even has info on the pros and cons of legal and illegal substances.
