Dave, they lied, they knew they were lying, and they had no good reason (I.E.. the reasons you have tried to give) to lie.

They didn't lie to preserve their investigation. They didn't lie because they had to.

You know they lied, I know they lied, they know they lied.

Amb. Rice and every other administration figure (including the President himself) trotted out in front of a camera for a couple weeks after the attack and were actively pushing the YouTube story, even though most media outlets were disagreeing with that story. Newspaper articles on Sept. 13 were already naming the group responsible for the attack. They didn't do it because that was the intelligence assessment (no intelligence agency told them the attack was caused by the video), they didn't do it to "throw the perpetrators off the scent of the investigation".

But let's leave that aside for now. What do you suppose the reasons were for not sending help? Why wasn't there any security with Amb. Stevens? Why was there a "consulate" in Benghazi in the first place? If there was a reason to set up a consulate separate from the Embassy, why was there inadequate security?
They omitted certain classified materials.
Common in National or International issues.
Just because some group claims responsibility on Facebook doesn't make it fact.

As for the final paragraph, that is not the discussion here and I do not claim to know those answers, this thread is about Ambassador Rice doing her job as requested by her superiors with the information provided by her superiors.

If you want to take issue with the DoS or the WH for scrubbing that classified information, have at it, keeping in mind that it isn't your decision as to what is or isn't classified.

But again, Ambassador Rice did her job as requested by her superiors with the information provided by her superiors.

Its not a crock at all, OF you are buying this cover up? Wheres TFS when you need him?

Chris Stevens was in the middle of a big arms scam and the entire thing backfired and Obama basically disavowed him and left him to burn when it went wrong. You think the US Government is gonna fess up to the shit it was really up to and the real job that Chris Stevens had over there? The entire clusterfuck nuked at the wrong time and Obama and his minions went into damage control mode to keep the entire mess from tanking his election campaign, so they cooked up their lie ( or as per the hypocrite liberals, the "scrubbed talking points") and ran with that bullshit story for 2 weeks until it was obvious they couldnt hold a lid on the truth any longer.

Theres plenty more that will be revealed about this stuff in the coming year, but Obama is covered with teflon just like any other President would be and his underlings will be the ones who fall on their sword. Hes actually not doing anything different than any other lying politician before him, its just hilarious to watch his kool-aid sheep go to bat for their savior and how they just cant bring themselves to say the words, "He lied" and they were snowed that BO would be different with all his Hope & Change psycho babble.

My friends, never underestimate the power of persuasion. Scary stuff.

You're right, Dave, she blatently lied for her administration...She did her job just like any good politician trying to protect her bread and butter.

What's really the at heart of this tempest in a teapot is that politicians never admit that they fucked up. This happens all the time. The administration spun the early intell on this but went too far. The Rep's called them out on their factual errors and Rice and others dug their heels in. Once that happens, nobody backs down and it goes on forever.

It's one of the poisons in our political system. It's like Clinton and his "I didn't inhale" bs. Everybody knows he was lying but he insisted on trying to find some way to weasel out of it. In that case, it really didn't matter whether he inhaled or not, it was a minor issue but he just couldn't admit it. he turned it into a famous quote and not a flattering one.

I could dredge up several other examples of this very same thing but to what end? Somebody will jump to the defense of their team no matter how obvious it is that they fucked up. I don't get it.

Nailed it....

Our governement and "intelligence" folks have been doing shit they shouldn't, fucking things up and lying about it for decades.
Neither side has a corner on the bullshit market.
Getting indignant because "the other guys" did it while strapping on the blinders firmly in all other cases.

The problem with them lying to us constantly (under Bush and Obama) is that when the government finally tells the truth nobodies going to believe them.

If blaming a video on the attacks isn't lying then they lie about blaming the video even though they used that excuse for a week...

But they never lied to us right?

Simple question with a "yes" or "no" answer.

Yes or no, were there demonstrations and civil unrest occurring in several countries throughout the Middle East at that time as a result of that crappy video?

It is a "yes" or "no" question

Yes.

Now answer me this in a yes or no answer.

Did the administration lie when they said they never blamed violence in the Middle East, particularly the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya, on a YouTube video.

It's a yes or no question.

Yes, how about her?

claimed there was no clear indication or details of an Al Qaeda impending Al Qaeda attack on the U.S despite Clinton staffers warning of such a possible attack so she did nothing.

vouched for the "clearness" of the intelligence to justify an Iraqi invasion. I've actually never seen clearer indications than that." Rice went on to say

She was rewarded with a Secretary of State position.

I bet you anything McCain wouldn't take up an offer of transparency if Obama said ok, let's look at Iraq and 9/11 and everything that transpired before and during.

Benghazi is a trumped up political circus led by a bitter old John McCain and his lapdog Lindsey Graham. I'm sure its nothing personal against Susan Rice or reports that McCain was steaming about remarks Rice made when McCain strolled around the Baghdad market espousing about how safe he felt while wearing a flak jacket and surrounded by over 100 security personnel and 2 attack helicopters. Rice after seeing the picture of McCain dressed for battle remarked publicly that she doubted Barak Obama would be strolling around the market in a flak jacket.

So all this time, effort and money wasted on a political non issue when we have better things to be working on. Jobs, Republicans, Jobs.

Nobody who was misled by faulty intelligence should ever become Secretary of State.

“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security.” — Hillary Clinton, October 10, 2002

Except a Democrat

Dude, Nearly every intelligence agency at the time supported the idea that Iraq still had access to WMD. NO intelligence agency thought that the Benghazi attack was caused by a demonstration over a video.

Dude,

There was a march to war orchestrated by Bush and Cheney.

On a 60 minutes interview former CIA director George Tenet said he was frustrated that for 3 years high ranking white officials led by Cheney said Tenet said that Iraq having WMD's was a slam dunk. Tenet says he never said that. The white house picked and chose intelligence like it was a Chinese restaurant menu to fit their assertion of WMD's.to make their argument for war with Iraq.

Yes, many other representatives were bamboozled or knew, I don't know which ,that the argument being portrayed by Bush and Cheney was suspect. Shame on them, they went along with the rolling tide towards a sham war that has killed over 5,000 Americans and who knows how many innocent Iraqi's. How many dollars were spent on this facade?

To compare Iraqi Rice to Benghazi Rice is a no brainer. I'll buy the latter any day over the former. It's not near as bitter.

Yeah, Hillary Clinton, The Senate Armed Services Committee and most of the western World were all bamboozled by the stupidest man to serve as President.

HRC had as much info as anybody in the World, her husband was a former President, right?

That we sold them, but had none by the time we invaded, because they agreed to a weapons disposal after desert storm that was overseen and not to mention that those chemical weapons have a shelf life, so had they hidden any, they were inert by 2001.

Not sure about the shelf life issue, I think they've been trying to get rid of materiel down at Umatilla that dates back more than half a century.....

Rumor is they finally finished it last year. That stuff was likely much older than the stuff produced by Iraq, and still very dangerous.
