Also, Monsters of Rock in '88 at RFK Stadium. I was working for a Kramer dealer and got to go down and present the Monster of Rock Kramer guitar to a guy who had won it on DC101. In the process I got to hang with my hero EVH, along with Alex, Mike and Sammy. Metallica were skateboarding on the ramps under the stadium and later we hung out and smoked cigarettes with Wild Mick Brown from Dokken while watching VH from the side of the stage. He kept saying that VH was his favorite band and what dicks Don Dokken and George Lynch were because they were always fighting and had no appreciation for how cool it was to be on a tour like this. "Dude, I just want to play!"
The Shop
never seen them live though.
People were booing Black Sabbath for Boston to come back out.
It was their breakout year and they were fantastic.
Pink Floyds "Animals" concert with the then 'new' laser light show and the big pig floating around was cool.
The original Texas Jam at the Cotton bowl in 1976 was epic.
After 16 hours and countless amounts of bands performing, we headed (stumbled) to the parking lot at 11:30PM and Aerosmith was just getting on stage.
Too much for one day.
Seeing Lynrd Skynrd on their last tour on Thanksgiving Day in Dallas was memorable as well.
They were great but ZZ Top backing them up kicked ass and brought another one of those dealios where the crowd wanted the back up band back on stage.
For me Peter Frampton at the Sam Houston Coliseum in '76 was really good.
KISS in the Summit in '77 was awesome.
Rush in '81 on Moving Pictures tour, and REO on their Hi-Infidelity tour.
Ive been to so many shows, its hard to pick just one.
for me it was Rolling Stones in Berlin 98' my friend got us back stage passes through BGM. whole different atmosphere in Europe.
One of my best days ever.
Best Party - J Geils Band - '80
Best Theatrical Performance - Alice Cooper, Halloween in Detroit - '86
Pit Row
Texas stadium had a lot of epic shows in those days. The Allman Bros., and Joe Walsh etc.
The TX jam shows were always rockin', recollection of them is a little sketch though.
Another fav was Blondie backing up Jerry Harrison at the Band Shell in Fair Park. The music wasn't that memorable, but we were leaning on the stage, and Debbie Harry flashed her cooter at us.
Rolling Stones at Giants Stadium in the pouring rain and Linkin Park at Madison Square Garden
Lynrd Skynrd Long Beach Arena 80 something.
Van Halen some bar in Hollywierd in the 70's
our garage band, every Friday night, So-Cal, 70's thru 80's
