Why do some people wear a magnetic bracelet ? same reason some wear a neckbrace. They think it will help them even if it won't.

Some people don't like the way they feel.
Some people don't believe in them.
Some people think they do more harm then good.

Pretty simple.

no point of comparison between why using a magnetic bracelet and a neck brace

I believe a few top pros have said there is a lack of adequate testing to show if they are a benefit or even possibly injury producing.
I believe one used a term (paraphrasing) "possible false sense of security"

A knife?
If everyone rode with a dagger in their belt, they'd be better off than not doing so?

Sure it is, There is no proof that either of them work.

Ask Ian Trettel if he believes in them. The doctors said it saved his life.

Sorry..that's not proof of anything.

Who's to say he wouldn't of even been paralyzed if he didn't have it on?

Regardless...independent testing needed. And.. this has been argued ad nauseum.

i hope it did, but until there is a way to PROVE it, whether it does or does not help its speculation and can only assumed on information at hand. I think there are too many variables between people, crashes, motorcycles, etc to prove right now whether they will help everyone in certain accidents or not.

this isnt a debate thread though, on whether they do or do not work. its just a fact that some people (pros included) do not think that they do as advertised. whether thats right or wrong is still to be determined by actual proof, until that time it will be debated, argued bought and avoided all at the same time by people with different takes on it.

Where is the proof that they actually work? A friend of mine Jerry Jetton, almost died from wearing one. It crushed his chest and tore his aortic valve. He was out riding in the middle of nowhere so it took a long time for the helicopter to get there. The Dr said it was a miracle he survived.......that wasn't the first time I heard of that happening...

Im not a pro but i have been riding for 20 years now and i do not use brace.
Why? It has no proof of being a insurance for neck injuries and i belive the flexibility that we have in the neck (except from backwards movement)
saves me from neckinjury more than have my neck stiffened up by a brace soo that the force is canalized thru my neck /spine.

Also seen many collarbones been snapped from minor crashes with similar fractures, accidental ?? maybe.

But thats how i feel about it, the most important its whats make u comfortable and feel safe while riding.

Injuries suck, i shattered my collarbone on a minor washout, I was wearing a leatt, once i was healed it would nt seat correctly on my collarbone, my buddy bought it and I went and bought the alpinestars brace, seems good, it floats more than the leatt! My fox proframe lc works good with it also.

Hey so you have good luck with the alpinestars one not rubbing on the bone callous. I have a broken clavicle right now and the way it's healing, it is going to have a point right where my leatt sits. I dont wear chest protectors but let me know how your a-stars one fits over the clavicle

And this damge wasn't caused by his body hitting the ground, it was confirmed to be due to his brace? Seems one could argue that is inconclusive as well.

What is Leatt's retort to this criticism? Do they plan on publishing more research or evidence?

From a personal experience back in 2009 I have strong beliefs that the Leatt did it's job. I race the A class and plan on racing the last 3 nationals this summer. Anyways, I crashed pretty back riding a supercross track back in '09. I had a violent crash over a triple which sent me and my bike into a cartwheel. When all was said an done my Bell had a huge dent in the side, my Leatt had its front lip broke(part that rests on chest) and my left clip had been shot through the front. I had severe whip lash and after reviewing the brace and my helmet the doctor said it was probably the only thing that kept me from being in a wheel chair. I am thankful for the man above, but also Leatt. I won't ride without one.
