Yes and back in the day when you could they've even had bikes claimed by a privateer.

So I take it that no national winner in the 250 or 450 class has ever been checked for overbore? We need to get on this NOW. You have 250Fs sounding like 450s? Somebody needs to start checking into this.

When was the last time any rider has been " torn down" at an MX national? In AMA dirt track, they would impound the top three bikes, two random picks, and rape them. Fuel, displacement, etc., right after the main event.

This was SOP, not due to any protest. MX sports seems to be enforcing the rules this year. Wonder if this has crossed their minds?

I'd bet half the privateers in the 250 class are juicing up their bikes

Pffft...what you don't know won't hurt you. You don't want to know what the top teams (especially 250's) are running. And you don't want to know what the top riders are doing. No, no, no...

If all these bikes are juiced, wouldn't they be grenading left and right? More you juice, less reliable you get, right?

you don't know as much as you think...yer fired.

tear downs happen a couple times a year in sx and maybe even mx.

mxsports isn't in charge of tech are they?

It's their show ,why should'nt they be in charge of tech? They call the shots on the black flags, on track rule violations and such. Probably don't even have anyone on staff that can calculate bore & stroke dimensions at the track. What do you want to bet they don't even have a dial bore guage for the tech guy?

You've been on an anti-AMA rant for quite a while now. Are you having fun? Have any idea who the head tech guy is on the moto side?

Check out results at mxsports.com when they are posted for Millcreek. They had a tear down frenzi this weekend. Who was caught in the "A" class?

Try www.mxsports.com. Their results link isn't working. So how about posting who got snagged?

If it is good enough to do tear downs in the Amatuers, why not the Pros? All other motorsports who have regulations do tech inspections/tear downs to make sure everybody plays by the rules.

You do know that MX Sports is the same folks that run Loretta's right? Ever hear of anyone getting torn down at a qualifier or the national? Yeah, me too.

If there is any sports organization in this country that knows how to inspect a motorcycle for rules violations, I'd bet it's MX Sports.

Futrell got dinged???? Wow, he was smoking in the 250f motos I saw him in. Guess he had more motor huh? Although, I don't think he pulled holeshots in the motos I saw.

Oh yeah, why not do it like they do at Qualifiers? All the top ten guys have to go through a tech tent after the moto for general inspection.

AMA Pro Racing is in charge of technical questions and tear downs. In the pro ranks, believe it or not, there are much fewer protests than there are at amateur races like Loretta Lynn's....

I'm confused. If AMA Pro Racing is in charge, where does DMG come into the equation? Is AMA Pro now DMG?

Isn't DMG only handling the Roadrace guys where MXSports have been handed the MX stuff (maybe by DMG)?

So does anyone tech the pros after a race? They have more tech at the local car track in the street stock class than they do at our top level racing and they are racing for 200.00 to win.

I guess nobody remembers Josh Grants bike at the JMI a few years back, it was way louder than anything out there...

I just got off the phone with a rider I sponsors mechanic who was at the qualifier this weekend. In one of the 250A classes they pulled the top 5 bikes down for inspection. One was found to be stroked to 302cc's. The same bike was used in a 2nd class but did not get DQ'd for that class.

I suspect that if you pulled the 250's down that are not a threat to Finnish in the top 5 at a pro national there would be many big cc bikes.

Years ago I ended up with a box of CR 125 parts that came from a satellite Honda teams semi at the end of the year.......there were big bore pistons & rings in the box.

The bike in question was no where near a 302cc. Std bore ( 78mm ) , stroke was a little over the 52.2 mm std. size.

Did someone protest or did the promoter do it? It would cost a lot of money to protest the top five.

Post a reply to: protests
