Where does Glen Helen.....

Edited Date/Time 1/27/2012 3:18am
go from here?
Now that they got dumped from the series like a bad habit, then had an epic fail (attendance) with the GP, do they comply with DC's request and try to get back on the series schedule, or just fffaaadddeeeeee away?

Glen Helen holds a lot of events throughout the year . It will be just fine with or without an AMA national .

They have a GP that is as good as a national if not better... but American mx fans are to ignorant and insulated to realise that. More media coverage of the GPs on US websites and Magazines would help overcome that. It still amazes me more people go to a national championship than a world championship round in the USA... it says alot for the mentality.... AMerican fans should embrace both and stop seeing the GPs as a rival series... it's not.

it is a win win for the Cali fans- a World GP at Glen Helen and iconic track and a US national at a new track like Pala - could it get any better?!

Nobody dumped anyone.

MXSports wanted Glen Helen to invest more and Glen Helen said no thanks.

Glen Helen and Mr Feldcamp probably don't even need a National or GP to survive.

The sad part is all the money spent on the GP could have gone a long ways to getting their wishes of a 5 year contract done.

Glen Helen will tire very rapidly of the Youthstream race and be done with it ,

And you should embrace the idea that calling American fans "ignorant and insulated" in every post gets old fast and does nothing for the few valid points that you may have.

In America, more people go to MLB games than Triple A baseball games. More go to NHL games than the AHL. More go to the NBA games than the CBA.....I think you get the point.

Why in the world would we pay all that money to see a GP when we could go to Starwest on a random Saturday night.....pay the 10 bucks at the gate and then proceed to watch riders just as fast or even faster in the intermediate and pro classes?

I don't understand why you always say people are ignorant because they choose not to follow a series closely. So I am ignorant because I follow the NBA but not FIBA or the Euro leagues. You need to remember that lots of people at nationals don't even follow the series, they are just there to watch the big names hear in America go at a track. And they aren't rival series here in America. Only a small percentage of Americans follow the American motocross scene, and only a small percentage of them find the entertainment in following a series half way around the world, with no top Americans racing in it.

Dearest "Mac",

I, "too", must be "ignorant & Insulated"? Sure, that's it: The Talent at the GH-GP, this year, was better than the Talent at...let's say...

Unadilla...?

Here's what -I- find "Amazing"...

We've got Euro's, Ozzies, Kiwi's, Canucks, So/Central Americans...etc....ALL...coming here.
To race with the Best Riders in the Best "Series' "...as in MX...AND...SX...PLURAL.

So, "Who" doesn't get "What"?

Jay, my understanding is that they wanted Bud to make the improvements, and were still only offering a one year contract.

Helpful hint for next year DC, change the name to "The Milky Way Universe Championship Motocross Series" because apparently the name is the only way to dictate the fastest riders on the planet.

Yeah, no kidding. Almost all the top riders from other countries strive to get over here to race against the best in the world, in the best series in the world. There are a few that decide to stay home and milk their bush league series instead of coming over here to race against the best, but hey.....more power to em'.

And to my understanding, requesting THE SAME THINGS they agreed to in the previous contract and never fulfilled. They offered one year to comply to those requests (again) and an extension would then be granted to fulfill the three year request.
GH said "no dice" and walked away from the table, later telling MXSports they are not doing he National, even after all the ads had dropped.

I think it was more like Yes we will invest ... but only on a multi year deal. Reportedly DC and company only wanted to go with a one year deal. They could not come to terms.

Mccread got one thing right ... it is def a win / win for So Cal moto fans. The track and layout were outstanding for the GH GP. The fact that it was not packed to the gills was a bonus for a fan. You had good viewing ... and there was a lot of good racing and Big Air to be had.

Hopefully GH will have more time next year to get the word out and some of the US riders entered ... and Pala will figure out their traffic thing.

yet more wonderful national arrogance... - The GPs have more nationalities it it than the US series... The British Nationals have had as many nationalities racing in it as the US series.. South Africans... Americans.. Estonians.. Latvians...Russians..Irish.. Scottish .. Welsh.. English.. New Zealand...Japanese ...and most riders in the GPs don't go to the US ...

Open your eyes... motocross is a lot bigger than just the US series...again the US series is great - the best national series in the world and smilar in standard to a World series, but it is not better than the GPs...and American riders are not better than riders from other countries either - they just have more fast riders than other countries because it is a bigger country.. it's all similar - fast is fast - World GPs or American Nationals- a top rider from either will be fast in both..- but the series are very different Dungey would not dominant the GPs like he does his national series and vice versa because of the different racing styles and track.. but they would both be up there... it is a shame ur national arrogance won't let you see that and enjoy the quality and differences in both series...

Supercross is a US sport so obviously if you want to race it .. you need to go to America... but to believe the US motocross series and AMerican riders are vastly superior to a world championship is absurd especially when GP riders can go their and win.

When Glen Helen said no to the carnival, that's when Pala got the invite.

Post a reply to: Where does Glen Helen.....
