I want WOMEN riding in the main event. But NOT in their own main event, as part of the

AMA program.

I'd love to see Ashley, JP and all the other fast women qualifying with the

men, trying to get in.

To have them racing in their own series, on the SAME day is preposterous.

Imagine going to see a Nascar race and then they announce and now, the lady drivers ?

Do you think Danica Patrick would want her own series ? (maybe...)

Anyway, call me a sexist if you want, but i believe I represent TRUE equality.

Women, if they want to be part of an AMA Pro National, should join in with the men.

They ARE NOT going to get ANY FASTER racing against each other.

One Day, a woman will be lining up in an AMA Motocross main, and that will be a good day.

Your thoughts/ feelings ?

My thoughts are that most of these women would smoke most of us. However, they will never make it in the AMA Nationals.

Your example of Danica has no bearing. She sits in a car and turns the wheel. Not even close to the physical demands that MX has, period.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching them on the webcast yesterday and think that is great for DC to have included them in the program. IMO, it can do nothing but get more girls/women involved.

Yeah, Shirley Muldowney proved that it was 90% machine and 10% fitness.

Motocross is MUCH more predicated on fitness/muscle strength.

Yes, a WMA swimsuit calendar would be interesting....is that the question you're asking?

Estrogen will never be able to compete with Testosterone on the physically competitive arena. Just how it is, I didnt set it up that way so dont shoot the messenger.

I was thinking about this yesterday too. The winner's average lap time in the 250 Consolation race was a 2:59.288. Fiolek's fastest lap in moto 1 was a 2:58.926, and the next 4 girls ran 3:00 to 3:02.

Would Fiolek and Patterson be more popular for battling for the lead in the women's class, or for trying, failing, and rarely, possibly, making the men's event?

As i've stated publicly, zillons of times - women make up what - maybe three percent of the

American motocross population yet -we have them racing their own pro series -

segregated from the guys ?

Where's the logic?

I would bet if you polled the masses going into any gate at any AMA National - that AT

LEAST ninety (90) percent of these motocross fans - would PREFER to see a two-stroke

race (series) vice women or quads. Yet, as often happens in life, a well voiced minority

opinion often overpowers the prevailing popular thinking....

I really, genuinely would LOVE to see a woman lining up for the mains and, it's

gonna happen. It has to.

My theory is that it's gonna happen sooner rather than later if they compete on a regular

basis - against stiffer competition. Men.

I love women and I love motocross - I just can't be convinced that they warrant their own

series competing on the same day - as an AMA Pro National - which is gender-neutral.

Go get a beer when they're on the track then. Most of my buddies love watching them ride the same track as the men and now that they are on the same day, makes it even better.

This is a sport that women won't be able to compete in without their own series.

It's not like this is any different than other sports.

Womens golf, basketball, tennis, etc. all have their own series, what's the dif?

How many seconds was Ashley off for a place on the gate?

Someone on here yesterday said it was 12 seconds. Is that a true number or not?

The woman need to get busy getting working towards a MENS Pro license then. All they have to do is win a district A title or go top 5 at LL's in the A or B. Not happening!!!!!

With that said the woman need to try and grow there series and not be a dog a pony show like they are now. Looking like C riders riding with the men at a National is not the answer.

The dif is that they don't stop the action at any pro event to introduce another gender-

specific event. Halfway thru the Lakers-Nuggets game introduce the WNBA ?

Stop Tiger Woods and crew and say "hey, now it's the womens time" ?

I don't have a problem with their own series, it;'s just that if they want to be part of the AMA program, on the same DAY -they should be attempting to qualify.

And yeah, I'll go get a beer.

I see it as more of an effort to try and grow womens motocross. It's basically in it's infancy and needs all the help it can get.

Think back a bit... how many people would have even known about these chicks if not for the formation of the Womens MX Association?

MX obviously has to do things a bit different than other sports.

Stop the action? Last time I went to a pro National, there was a big break in the action anyway.. now they are filling that down time with some womens action!

If it wasn't stuffed in on a Saturday, there would be more time on Sunday race day to fit both the womens and the 2 stroke challenge.

Ashley's fastest lap in timed qualifying was a 3:05. It took a 2:51 to get in the 250 class.
These are very talented women on these bikes, but they are WAYYYYY off the pace from making it into the main with the guys. 14 seconds is a lot of time to make up.

I have to disagree Rup.
4 chicks racing in the 500 today, bet a lot of folks didn't see that coming 20 or 50 years ago.

14 seconds is a lot. I suspect her times would get even slower if she were having to dice for position with a much more aggressive group of riders.

I would love to see it as well, however, they simply are not fast enough to hang with the men. Not to mention they would never last for two thirty minute plus two lap moto race format.

1,000% agree.

Rather have the upcoming A riders get some experience on full National track or have a full two stroke program of past greats instead of the ladies.

Doreen Payne did it once.

Here we go again...The boys had how much practice ??? TWO fifteen minute sessions. The girls were supposed to get ONE fifteen minute session, but that was cut to 4 laps!!! How fast do you think that 40th boy would have gone with 4 laps of practice?

The women should race on one of the amateur days. The day was WAY too long with the 2 women's motos added in.

The top 5-8 are way off the pace of the guy that qualifies 40th in either class. The rest of the girls are in a different time zone. It was cool watching the women race a couple of years ago, but for me, the novelty has worn off.

Women had more exposure than the men.

Everyone saw both their motos but I saw DROVES of people leaving before the second 250 moto started.

Move the chicks to the last moto.

I rather see them race on Amateur day because the day was too long.

The woman are also on the program so the 450 and 250 guys get more of a break.

LOL! Laughing I'm pretty sure you've got it right.

The ladies racing on the same day and track as the big boys just isn't a good fit....the drop off in speed is just too steep, then add in the "time concerns" and it really doesn't work....They should drop the ladies's races from the AMA schedule and have them be the "Featured Races" on the Amateur days before the Nats...haven't they done that before?
Then again, these days every brand has an entire line of gear, helmets to boots, designed specifically for women, so the interest/market is out there....someone is buying the stuff....and I am sure there are plenty of women viewers out there in TV land that enjoy watching the girls on TV, which is good exposure for sponsers and the manufacturers....Honda is paying AF to sell bikes, yeah?

You guys act like it takes up so much time...2 15 minute motos and 4 laps of practice...so maybe 40-45 minutes of the day

Winning a district A title would definetely be within reach. Most A riders don't care about district points, and go where the big money is instead. I've seen a top local b rider (now pretty good A rider) struggle to get by sarah whitmore on a borrowed bike, at his home track. They can haul.
