This is more proof that RV is no joke and has the potential to be the next RC. I can't think of another rider as competitive as him. He didn't need to dance with Grant and could have easily got taken out or finished back in the pack. Pride on the line here, nothing else as he didn't have to get Grant for the overall and has a good series lead. Mentally, he is above the other riders and if that transfers to the 450 class, he is gonna give #7 a run for his dough

that's a horrible comparison.
RC didn't 'dance' with the competition.
he just dominated them.

He just isnt as fast as either RC or JS were in that class. I like him as a rider, but he isnt in that speed class.

I liked that about RV. I am an RV fan but I was cheering for Grant for not giving up. I'm glad they didn't take each other out, yet they still were bangin bars.

way faster if you go back and look at it. The bikes are changing and everyone is getting faster. Red Bud hasnt changed really over the past few years

the time difference is that the 4 strokes can clear laroccos leap, its the same all across the board, some of the tracks are running or have been running almost the same eact lap times for the past few years.

yeh it was the real deal when BT was doing it, EF10, was doing it, Chad Reed was doing it, JS was doing and RC was doing it. Shut up.

Are you seriously trying to compare lap times from 2004 to 2007? Laughing

This guy tried to say that RV is the same as RC because RC had to battle with Stewart like RV just battled with Josh Grant Lol.

no just stating with the changes with everything they are running around the same times, rc and js were not faster than anyone else. They just seemed faster than anyone now because their wasn't any compettition. kinda like how stewart has none right now in the 450 class outdoors, The lites guys have stepped it up and the top 5 lites guys can run top 5 in the 450 class easily with no problems

I don't remember RC in the 125 class right now, but relative to his competition, James Stewart was the fastest "lites" rider that there ever was.

its ok though, rc has been tracked down and beaten many times by stewart. RV came from behind to win, rarely does he let someone just pass him by

RV isn't Stewart or RC.He isn't in their league. Don't try to compare RV's competition to RC dealing with Stewart or Stewart dealing with RC.

im pretty sure RV's pace is more than what stewart can even compare to so the only person he can compare to is RC because stewarts record can't hold his jock against RV

19 second advantage by jumpin LaRoccos leap?............come on.

If you gonna throw out lap times, throw out both sides.

Red Bud 2007 "Big Boys"
1. JBS - 2:29.5
2. RC - 2:29.8
3. MA - 2:33.3

Red Bud 2004
1. RC - 2:43.5
2. Reed - 2:45.5
3. K Dub - 2:47.4

So the big bikes are 14 seconds a lap faster in three years? Give me a break!

You can't say he is or isn't yet. They haven't raced, well except when RV walked RC at MXDN but RC was part time so still can't. Guess we'll see. I for one hope he can hang and race James. James needs some comp. Probably won't see it though with Stewart going SX only.

no 6 sec difference from the 04 lap times from stewart to carmichaels. Villos lap times are almost identical to Stewart and Rc's in 07

Anybody who went to the MXDN's last year should know just how dominate RV was.. The guy has unreal talent, and he'll challenge Stewart next year no doubt. He just needs to get healthy.

I always like how some of these Stewart fans always say Villopoto doesn't compare to Camichael or Stewart, as if those two were some how equal. FIRST!!! OFF Stewart can't compare to Carmichael and let's get that straight. If James and RC had split two AMA championships between them that they competed against each other for, then YES! you could say they were equal, BUT!! that's not the way it worked out, it was RC ( 4 AMA championships ) and Stewart ( GOOSE EGGS ). 16 AMA championships and 150 wins in a 10 year PRO career is going to be very hard to beat and until someone does, RC will always be known as the winningest rider who beat all comers that he raced against for AMA championships. Stewart is the guy now in the 450's, but he got beat every time for the AMA championship, while racing RC and can't mathmatically beat him for wins inside of a 10 year career, end of story. As far as Villopoto not being as fast as Stewart or Carmichael in the lites class, How the HELL do you know that, he's just as Dominant as they were in the tiddler class and Villopoto on a 250f would destroy Stewart on a 125 2-stroker, so I respectfully disagree. Anyways! this will all be clarified in the next few years when we get to see them race on equal bikes.

This is where you are wrong. I am a Reed fan and I know that Stewart can compare to Carmichael. He was faster than Carmichael. He didn't have the mental game and that was his downfall. He has still never lost a Supercross race when he hasn't crashed. The guy is a freak of nature. Carmichael had the program and the people around him to counteract that.

FIRST! off Mxrider26x, what makes you think I was talking about you in particular. SECOND! the reason Stewart was crashing was he was riding over his head trying to run with RC. Notice anything different this year about Stewart, YEAH! he's not crashing anymore. Guess! why. No Carmichael anymore causing him to ride over his head and crash trying to keep pace with the GOAT.

Some of you people need to read a little better. I talked about his competitve spirit and also used the word potential in realtion to RC. Is RV there yet, no. Mentally though, he is stronger than anyone else out there and that was also a major factor is RC's domination. Pure speed is not gonna win every race. Stalking a rider lap after lap and not letting up, thats gets you into a riders head. Right now, who is gonna come up and run with Stewart and not be intimadated? I just wanna see a good race, not a runaway, so excuse me for thinking that RV is gonna be the best candidate for that.
