"You’re going to see a new policy adopted where the Supercross Champion and the Lites East and West Champions will be required to run the number one plates."

Good stuff !

Yep, I like it...and I'm sure the manufacturers do, too. Well, Yamaha may not be as crazy about it this year...

No doping policy!! Think anyone will suddenly slow dow?? They all sound like good common sense changes. Might see some 2 strokes and way more 250Fs in SX1.

Have they releases what the penalties for doping is? Besides the monetary side of it, I would guess there would be some sort of suspension. 1 race? 5? Season?

You’re going to see a new policy adopted where the Supercross Champion and the Lites East and West Champions will be required to run the number one plates. That will make it easy for the casual fan to identify the champions on the track, and it also helps the American distributors showcase their riders. For example, Chad Reed will be running the number one in ’09, but will still hold onto his familiar 22, and return to it when he’s no longer champion.

Damn, that was harsh!! Funny but harsh!!

To be taken seriously they should have a 2 year ban like all other sports.

Not mentioned is "who is building the tracks?"

Is Dirt Wurx still going to build the tracks?

"Also, Lites riders from either coast can jump to the Open class during races on the opposite half of their schedule…but on their 250Fs"

Does this mean they have no choice but to ride the 250F? Say Dungey wants to do the same thing he did last year, does he have the option to run the 450, or only 250F?
And TY159 I thought the same thing haha.

Will KTM try 300cc two-strokes? Could be the ticket if they are going to raise the minimum weight fot 450's.

Hopefully, Yamaha is working on a YZ300 two-stroke for 2010.

It will be interesting to see if some of the riders switch back and forth between several bikes depending on the track conditions.

Also, anybody know how much power a 2 stroke would lose by quieting it down to 94dB vs. quieting the 4 stroke down to 94 dB AND adding weight?

What is the displacement limit for 2 strokes, still 250cc?

Will the 250/450F and 125/250F have a common minimum weight for each displacement group?

I like all the things that they've outlined so far.

When I wrote the bit about Chad running the number one plate, it wasn't intended to be funny, or a slam. I just used him as the example because he's the current number one.

As far as bike size, the 250F, 250 two-stroke, and 450 were the only sizes presented to me. But if KTM does have some mid-size models that are homologated...hmm...

KTM 150SX should be legal.

The existing '09 KTM line-up only shows the 300 in EXC/XC form, no SX. I assume you could modify a 300XC for Supercross by staying within the "Production" rules?

How about the rumored Service Honda Kawasaki KX300? How many are needed for homologation?

"They’ll also continue what they started last season at Anaheim 2, with the retro design…and (drumroll please) there may be a water crossing this year. While it won’t be mud, there may be sand and water in one of them. One of them? Hmm"

Stoked on the retro coming back! but will there be sharks w/ lazers in the watercrossing?

If yami did that i'd buy one without a doubt.
I asked about the KTM 300 before & someone pointed out that you could get a 250sx and put the 300xc top end on it. I'm not sure about carb, port, pipe changes, etc but still a dope idea.

I wonder if any of the top guys will opt for the 250F in SX? Never say never.

Those are great changes; very much like the "premier" class being open on displacement. Frankly, with the AMA rigidity out of the way, the outdoors would be better if we stopped dividing the best talent and they got all the premier riders into one class and let them ride what they wanted the same way as this.

This all sounds sick. I can't wait till A1!!! this may be the most anticipated SX series ever. Big changes for sure but it's what is neccesary to make it more appealing to the general public and its allowing better and closer racing. Water jump....they should throw in a tiny Daytona 07 replica section. That would be crazy!!!!

If it is truly an 'open displacement class', then that should mean 2-strokes can be over 250cc if they are production.

Plus the 94db rule should work in their favor.

Maybe the 350cc thing will become a reality, only with 2-strokes rather than the John Deere version.

A 2010 YZ350 2-stroke weighing 220 lbs sounds good to me!

All will be good til a 250F wins a SX main, then the factories will scramble, and you will never see a 450 in a stadium again.

Most of it sounds good, but the idea of raising the weight limit stinks.

Smells like the mfg's hedging their bets with the weight increases EFI and e-start bring to the valve munchers. To a lesser extent, it sounds like a safeguard against the return of 2 strokes.

Riders are going to crash, there's no way around that fact. Why increase the weight of the bike that's going to impale them during some of the crashes?

I think someone mentioned it before, but how cool would it be to see someone like Mitch line someone up for a whole season in supercross on a 250F. That is when you will really know the displacement thing isn't just a gate filler for the 450s.

Not a big fan of the number 1 plate. The red backgrounds worked for me. By now most casual fans get the idea that the red background was the reigning champ. Pretty easy concept. Hmmm, NASCAR doesn't make their champ run a number 1.

I'm betting RV would be a threat on a 250F in the big bike class for the full season. Certainly in MX, anyway. He had a bad luck season last year for sure. Definitely a lot of change... hope to see some premix smoke hanging in the Georgia Dome this year. Braaap!
