Spoke With Our Wallets

Edited Date/Time 7/25/2020 2:47pm
This one wasn’t for me or for my wife, but we spoke to our wallets for our 7 year old daughter. Little backstory on why this happened.

Last Saturday we took our kids to Gorman so they could ride the kids track there to get the hang of things before taking them to Glen Helen and Perris. I screwed up the last few years and didn’t take my daughter riding much at all. Well, now here we are at the track and she’s riding great! Not much confidence because it’s still so new to her, but doing great! She looks like an absolute giant on her TTR50, which is for sale now Wink . She’s super cramped and there’s no way I can let her ride that back after Saturday. So I starting talking to my wife about buying our daughter a TTR110. Obviously 110 prices are through the roof for used right now, so I cruised around CycleTrader for shits and giggles.

Anyways, while scrolling on CycleTrader, I saw Simi Valley Cycles was taking deposits for 2021 TTR110’s. So I called them up Tuesday and put a deposit down. I was told they were expecting them late August to early September. Well, I get a call from them yesterday saying that they got in on a surprise shipment from Yamaha! I got off work early, picked up the wife and kids, then headed down to SVC! Got there and we were in and out in a matter of no time with her brand new 2021 TTR110!! She was super excited and her excitement made everything completely worth it!

Huge thanks to Duane, Nick, Jeff, Kevin and everyone over at Simi Valley Cycles! Now to take her riding Sunday!

That it is! I didn’t do any riding, but got to work with both kids on their riding. Our 4 year old was riding great until he panicked and ran straight through mom! She’s doing fine though! her bruises and burns are healing well!

Awe hope she mends up like new.... I’ve been so fortunate been riding most weekends with all my boys camping and riding. Even got to do some enduro trails and loops with the wife was so cool and on one my 5 year old joined in was the beat. So rude on and enjoy. Once the COVID BS is over you need to come visit Smile

Awesome Matt, and not one thumbs down!!! Maybe things are turning around on this board. Enjoy this time dude it goes by way faster than you can imagine. One day my daughter is sitting on the counter making coffee with me (she would always grind the beans for me), the next day she is in university.

Right on Matty! We gotta get together one of these days so the kiddos can ride together. They’re jammin on the stacycs, time to open up the ol wallet again! Haha

That's an awesome find in the current market! I have been looking to get a Crf 110 for the past few months and put a hold at a dealer, just waiting for the call now.

She is healing really well! She doesn’t think so, but from last Saturday when it happened until now, it looks way better!

That is so awesome! We are planning a big family desert trip in October with my parents, my sister, her boyfriend and some other family as well. All of us will be able to ride so I can’t wait! Riding with friends is always fun, but riding with family is even better!

That is the damn truth! I feel like it was just yesterday she was napping in my arms and not letting me put her down. Now she’s 7, going into second grade and riding! Time is almost moving a bit slower with our 4 year old it seems, but it’s still going way too fast!

Are you in SoCal? We are trying to find a group to get out riding with pretty regularly so the kids can all ride together. We actually met 4 kids last weekend at Gorman that range from 3-6 all learning and riding PDubs so my son was really happy.

I was definitely surprised to get that phone call on Thursday! When we were picking up the bike and talking with the guys there, Nick at SVC told me he completely heard the excitement in my voice when he told me they got one in for us. He laughed and said it was one of the coolest things he’s heard over the phone.

I’ve seen some crf110’s for sale around my area, but they are asking $4k+.

I put it up for $1500 knowing that I’d get somewhere around $1200-$1300. It has was than 5 hours of ride time. Probably even less than 3. It was never ridden.

These are some of the best times if your life. My daughter is 32 now and lives in another city. I remember getting her an XR100, then a KX100 and then a CRF250R. We rode and raced every weekend for many years. She still comes home every couple of months to ride. The years pass very quickly. You don't notice them growing up. Suddenly they're grown up and moved away.

That's awesome, Matty.

The guys at SVC have always been stand-up people, and never pull any of the typical dealer shit. Only shop/dealer I'd ever use or recommend.

Picked up a cherry crf70 that needed a carb clean a couple weeks ago. I had my 6 year old pull and install the carb after I cleaned it.! I don’t want her to grow up. Best days ever! She absolutely loves riding and working on her bike.

I drove down from Seattle last October and camped in Gorman for a few days. There’s no place like home. Grew up riding almost exclusively there. From Carson originally.

Lol!!! I did sell it earlier this morning. After weeding out all the idiots, I had a bunch of legit people after it. The guy that bought it looked at me and asked, did it actually get ridden?
