I doubt they could ever come to terms with YS.

But as far as big races go it would be one hell of a GP

I guess the question is whether Youthstream would expect more or less than MXSports in terms of improvements. What other issue is there?

That would be awesome, but wouldn't MXSports have to be on board as the US sactioning body?

Hard to imagine Luongo and GH ever coming to terms.

Hard to imagine any promoter wanting to deal with Luongo.

I doubt Jody would be the track designer if this were to come about!

Well, David Claybaugh is at Lakewood. i would have thought hell would have frozen over before Youthstream and an NPG promoter did business again after the post Budds Creek back and forth.

Business sometimes makes strange bedfellows.

That said, Youthstream has a lot of options other than Glen Helen, and they seem to put more of premium on improvements than what made this deal crater.

last year Jonathan Beasley walked into the press tent (i forget which national).... grabbed the microphone at the front and shouted into it.... "we need a US GP!"

as for david claybaugh... he seems one of the most "get 'er done" guys out there.... a night national, big tv screens, and a helluva watering system.... if something needs doing, he seems to do it, and in style
i saw him at franciacorta and i'm sure he knows what to expect for 2010 mxdn... i hope he's able to do it

as for GH.... i think the dust needs to settle a little bit before any other decisions are made... surely?

Unlike Dr. Bud Feldkamp and Jody at GH , David Claybaugh and his investers believe you have to spend money to make money and do what ever it takes to put on a great event Tthey can even admit when they were wrong and try something else. Everyone involved with GH is stuck in the past and they have had 15 years to step up and make improvements but have not so good riddence. Now Jody and the MXA wrecking crew can have it all to themselves and can all sit around talking how things were in the good old days.

Based on what is going on in the GPs do you think YS is coming to the states from a position of power or more of a "can you help a brother out" attitude.

500Guy-good thread.

Chad Reed and team Australia won, that's another title he has that nobody counts.

Michael, I think they'd be coming as a competitor. I don't know how that fits into your choices. I expect it would cost them a lot to do a GP here if the teams are supposed to make the trip.

1991 and 1992 too (500cc US GP).

Bayle won each time.

Good thread Jay,

And yes Guyb is right and it would take money. I am not so sure that money isn't the real issue with the cancellation of GH to begin with.

Coincidence ?

There is a rumor that the GB MXGP may be changing dates or canceled.

Chepstow is supposed to happen on the same week-end as GH (May 30th)...

Youthstream has had trouble to stabilize the Great Britain GP's and there is a history of changes of venues/cancellations there so it may just be a new episode of this trait.

But there is little doubt that G. Luongo would jump on the occasion and probably offer his best deal to replace a GP that is having last minute problems (that has happened before), especially if that means put a(nother) foot on US territory (and especially G.H. for what it represents) !

LostBoy819 is on to something; but , I don't think Jody needs to be thrown under the bus with Bud.

Youthstream will have no positive benefit to U.S. racing if they're allowed to come over here & do things "their" way.
