Fast bikes, but reliability (at times) bits them. Mud is tough on a motorcycle, but making sure they finish in a Championship situation is the team's job.

You know CP doesn't ride the bike as hard as others (smooth and keeps power low), so the failure had to be a reliability problem. We could see steam coming from the bike laps leading up to the motor letting go.

I think the points are 9 points, with 3 moto's left. This Championship just got better (if that was possible).

Exactly, shit happens but I really feel bad for CP.

Pro Circuit has had a history of bad things happening at Southwick, didn't they blow 5 motors a year or so back? And this was the 2nd engine that expired today for Pro Circuit.

Wouldn't bein a gear taller in the muddy sand put a heavy load on the motor too? I'm really bummed that motor let go, watchin pourcel ride is epic... like watchin JMB, Bailey, Reynard and Windham... just so effortless

Yea but the Wick is notorious for claiming motors from all of te big 5 especially in the 250f class it's like rolling the dice between hp and reliability

they definitely walk a fine line with the power they demand out of these bikes...

Honestly you have no idea what your talking about!!! I'm going to clear this up for real fast for you! Southwick is the hardest track on the circuit for ANY bike and when it's raining it's really bad!! When your running in the back of the pack and your bike is taking on a lot of roost your radiators fill up with sand and stops all airflow and it causes your bike to overheat real fast!! SO it's not a reliability problems it's called racing and shit happends! It just sucks for CP and the team!

I'm with him..........
I'm not going to defend PC & crew, cause it's really not needed!
Their successes far out weigh the failures, hands down!
Sure it's tough being the "Class of the Class", but I've seen it first
hand that Mitch wouldn't want it any other way.
Every great running back stumbles, & every great receiver drops the ball.
In competition ALL hit the wall sooner or later, but in it all winners rise to
the fore front & for my money PC is above all the rest, rest assured............
Also, there's 1 more moto, & the "fat lady hasn't sung yet!"

when you are squeezing that much power out of a motor sometime things fail. Shit happens.

Think it was 06 all the bikes let go but 1 Langstons, I believe. Including James bike on the last lap.
He lapped so many people though he ended up getting 11th with out crossing the finish line if I remember right.

Didn't Pro Circuit actually say after they were trying a different alloy on a part in all the motors, and it failed?

For me that's the beauty of it all, the challenge!
You see outside of it all what's around most is FAILURE!
More than succeeding or winning there's failure.
It's everywhere, & much more easy to achieve than winning.
But to beat it is sweet!
To get on the podium is even sweeter.
To WIN, WINNING is the best, the BEST!

If it was a reliability issue Pro Circuit wouldn't be the most dominating team in the history of lites/125/250f history. Look out how many other riders dnf'ed. It looked like the bottom ten either dnf'ed or didn't start at all. The track is seriously tuff!!!

As a southwick local, that track claims bikes on a weekly basis. Whether it is a stock bike or factory bike, the track is brutal on them. Yesterday it was about as bad as it could be for a sand track. No surprise a motor or bunch of them broke. it looked like nascar with riders coming in for new goggles constantly. While standing next to the mechanics area i think i witnessed pretty much every major team have a rider come in and have something wrong with the bike. If you werent in front clear of the roost, you were going to have issues...

I highly doubt the team would be "trying" a new part, ESPECIALLY in Pourcels bike, maybe stroupes... Who knows what happened...

Funny I don't remember PC bikes being unreliable. In fact I was floored when CP's bike broke, I don't really remember the last time I saw one break.

All I have to say is should Dungey win the title next weekend I hope he realizes it was a fluke, and the Pourcel had him covered

No, these two are both great on a bike. Dungey had CP covered at Millville. Then Unadilla was clearly CP. But, overall, I think Dungey has just a bit more speed. CP has had a phenomenal year, only once has he gotten (until now) worse than 2nd overall! And that was a 3rd. Until now, I was gonna say it came down to the starts.

Unless you have ridden a real sand track you will never understand how hard it is on a bike. The Wick is brutal... You are a gear high and WFO with the engine under full load more than any hard pack track anywhere !!!!

Off the top of my head, all i can think of was Ryan Villopoto at Unadilla. His radiator went tits up i think. Imagine what would happen if an American team had to race at a real sand track like Lommel or Lierop.............just twisting your nipples guy Wink
