Suzuki yellow excels, excel spokes with spline drive nipples. OEM suzuki hubs with a light bronze coat, followed by a clear gloss reducer. very rough cast.

Looks Great!!! I just don't understand the whole powder coat rim thing that people do. Do they not realize in Racing the point is to be as light as possible? Factory's spend thousands to lighten bikes.....and then we have these kooks that powder coat their wheels(frames etc...) and add lame spoke skins. If you don't see factory teams doing it, there's a reason why. Anodize is the only way to go!!!

Are you serious? Those are the same teams that cut out the GRAPHICS to save weight. None of us are factory riders.

Not saying we are Factory Riders...but most of us have that fantasy that we wish we were or once were....

And more people try to make their bikes look "Factory"..... most cannot pull it off because they get too involved with the "bling bling" factor and stray away from doing things the right way.

Example #1 How many Kawasakis have you seen with powder coated black frames and swingarms since Reed and Hansen started rocking them? They powder coat because they think it looks cool, but don't realize that it is actually Hard Anodized which doesn't add weight like powdercoat and also allows for "FLEX" which is necessary with any aluminum part on your bike for handling.

then there's those people that are concerned with how other people spend their own money on their bikes

Did you do them yourself? If so that's a huge accomplishment and you should be proud. The yellow rims on a Zook are my favorite. Hard to get a good look at the hubs from the flash I think.

I seem to remember JGR talking about their frames that they powdercoated white, along with their kickstarters. How much weight do you think powdercoating adds? I can assure you you would never notice it. I doubt a scale would even notice it.

IDK......kinda hard to believe a team like JGR spending thousands on Titanium parts and trying to shave every little oz on a bike and powder coating white. Are you talking about a display bike or an actual race bike? I don't remember them having white powdercoat parts. Black Frames, YES......but those were Hard Anodized

Race bikes, the white was only for a few rounds. Do you have info that says it was hard anodized because everything I have read said it was powdercoated. But I do remember them saying they had the Kickstarter powder coated black with a matte finish because the riders liked the texture when trying to start their bike quickly after a tipover. What about the Hondas at the retro round this year?

Are you implying that powdercoating a frame would hinder flex and affect handling to a point that a rider could perceive or that would matter?

I went with powder coated hubs flat bronze metallic that were turned down and anodized moose wheels. I don't think there are many people that can tell the weight diff between anodized or powder coated anything. Good looking set of wheels you have they look nice.
