...is damn sure the real deal. That guy is fast and very, very smooth. If he keeps riding like he is now, he's going to win everything there is to win.

I know. It is amazing how smooth he is when he goes that fast. He doesn't ever look like he is trying.

A few people spoke of how good Pourcel was, but were met with resistance and attacks.
Some spoke a few years ago about how good he was, and were met with the same

I do think he struggles a little through traffic sometimes.

When a guy is that fast, he'll figure out how to deal with traffic. I remember at Houston, Stroupe was able to go about the same speed, but only by riding out of his mind. Pourcel's style is beautiful, reminds me a little of Emig.

I think he plays it safe...he is thinking about that championship bonus money.
What is it...like $1,000,000?

Damn, I'm so happy for Pourcel. Despite his smooth style I don't know how he will stack up in the future against Stew, Reed, J-Law, Villo etc. But if he wins this title coming from that horrible injury, plus the MX2 title he already owns, he has done enough to make an impact in MX-history for ever.

But if there's something more for him to win (which I can see), I will change my respect to some kind of adore thing.

Kid is motivated and skilled like few else!

Pourcel for president!

he has been the real deal since 06... Cairoli was faster that year in the GPs but Pourcel was smarter and didn't make the same mistakes similar to this supercross season. He is very very technical and smooth I think he will be there with reed and bubba in sx on a 450,

His big crash at the Irish GP that wrecked him wasn't his fault... so it' not like he takes many chances...there was a flagging problem that meant he did the jump when he didn't know there was a crash- he landed on aubins bike .. it was bad.

Pourcel is smart his speed is there he just uses it if he has too and he hasn't really had to this year. it think he could win the outdoor by just being the smartest like in 06. If he uises his full speed watch out.... he is bubba, Cairoli and RV fast.

I've said for 3+ years and no one listened but he is a genius on a motorcycle - so technical so smooth, so smart and so fast.

i agree with u, the first time i saw christophe was in 2004 at the isle of wight gp and he was 1 of the only kids in the mx2 class riding the 125 and i think he was 15 at the time but even then he was still looking silky smooth. i just cant wait to watch him kill dungey haha

I was thinking that about Cairoli (being faster) in 06. Also, in 07 wasn't Caroili like a good bit faster than CP? I seem to remember Cairoli taunting CP by slowing down and repassing him kinda like Bubba did Chad that time. Maybe I wrong but I swear I remember Cairoli doing something stupid like that.

Absolutely amazing what he has accomplished after that horrendous injury{that wasn't his fault as you mentioned}. Funny thing about you Euros, is that you guys argue between your countries{I know the Brits and the French love each other} about whose riders are the best, but when it comes to the US, you all of a sudden become "one" as europeans. Just an observation.
Meanwhile the guys from down under come over and out some "hurt on". LOL!

yea AC was faster in 06 and 07 but he didnt make the mistakes in 07 and won it whereas pourcel did (before his injury AC was probably going to clinch the title in ireland that day even if CP wasn't hurt), Pourcel did run with him on occasion though and was the only one that could since 06,

Rattary and Searle never beat AC last season when Cairoli started in the top 5 with them.

So I think on raw speed Pourcel was a touch (a tenths here and there) better than rattary or searle outdoors but then he hasnt rode outdoors in a ling time so maybe they have closed the gap and Searle and Rattary will suit the loamy wide open AMA tracks too.

The top 4 will be CP, rattary dungey searle maybe in that order bt maybe in a completely different one.... i think though one of those 4 will win it. hopefully searle!!!

Pourcel has the nicest style of anyone in racing though beautiful to watch

I don't like generalizations, and I don't like the nationalistic thinking some live by. Maybe it's because my country sux in mx? The way some Euros, Aussies and Yanks behave when winning or loosing is close to treatable in psychiatry.

Sad.

Good part that in MX come out pretty sane in general if you compared to soccer hooligans.

The year Pourcel won the title I think he may have been the 4th fastest rider, he won tho and that I guess clearly made him the best. AC was clearly faster so was Phillipaerts and Rattray seemed stronger in the soft stuff but CP just new how to get the job done with the least amount of effort. Technically known as a JEEP (Just Enough Effort to Perform) i think

Aren't they riding supercross at the moment? Correct me if I'm wrong, but outdoors is quite different to supercross, how bout we wait until Glen Helen to make these predictions for the title.

Pourcel will have Dungey chocking all over the place.
Pourcel may not dominate the outdoors but he has to be the odds on favorite for the title right now.

at a1 a few years back before his injury he was smoother than a peeled onion...faster than shit.

after he got hurt there were even more doubters than before i think.

he is almost cut above like reed or james.

Can he ride the outdoors equally as well?

So many Americans dismiss the World Championship as second rate that GP fans have to join together as 'one' to collectively try and fight our corner. Thats why this 'Us and them' thing has slowly developed over time.

The only gage for alot of US fans is the MXDN and in recent years you have/had been able to field some the fastest riders in the history of the sport. 'We' just try and persuade you guys that we have some pretty fast guys in GP's (when they're healthy) and hopefully Pourcel and the others will be able to prove that on American soil in the months to come...

...of course by then you'll probably have started to claim them as your own anyway.Tongue

Don't know where mccread gets his info, but CP was hailed as a star long before his 3+ years singing his praises as claimed, and as for his crash at Moneyglass, there was no problem with the flags, iother than CP jumping through clearly waved yellows on a blind tabletop!!

Great to see him back on form though!

MX is going to be pretty intense this summer. Pourcel, Dungey, Canard, Izzi, Rattray, Searle, Metcalfe, Stroupe, who knows if J-Law is doing big bikes or 250's.....The talent pool is deep and I have left out a whack of fast guys.

I Cant wait....450's could be good too
