How about making the 45+ class a full class again and make a split 50+ and 55+ class? Take a look at how many plus riders are in 40,45,55+ at the regionals.

He would like the 45+ class to be a full class = 42 riders on one gate. It is currently split and they run 2 classes off the same gate. 20/ 45+ & 20 50+

I will be 50 in a few months and as it stands now will never even attempt to qualify for LL again.

How about adding the +30A back into the schedule. Sounds like a even better idea to me.

I agree 100%. While we're at it let's make the ex-pros run in a "masters" class or something. It can't be much fun lining up with Doug Dubach and wondering if you'll even finish on the same lap. A decent 45-49 year old should be able to think he MIGHT have a chance at some glory before he goes to the old folks home! C'mon DC!

EDITED:

Actually, I looked it is 30 +45 riders and 20 +50 riders.

* Riders in the Senior (45+) and Masters (50+) class may attempt to qualify at the Area Qualifier and Regional Championship in both classes. However, at the National Championship only one class may be chosen, as these two classes will be run together in a staggered start format and scored separately.

The 40, 45 and 50+ class reads like a Pro National flash back! Isn't Duback 50 or about to turn 50?

Today, I just found out Chad Pederson is skipping this year as he will turn 40 for 2011.
Also, he had both forearms "tuned-up" since you and I saw him there last summer.

Maryland's Tom Tom Welsh may be riding LL this year! Wonder how long till Barry Carsten graces the place?

I qualified at our D23 race a few weeks back in the 45 class. I'm 57 and there is no way i actually would even try to race LL's with all the national champs and former pros.. And i win at least 95% of my races in 40 and 45B here! No chance in hell i could even be close to a good result down there. But its fun to see if a person can qualify anywaySmile

Reynard mentioned going back on his podcast.
Something should be done for the 40 & up guys and sacrificing the 4 stroke class is the perfect substitute.

He looked good last weekend at Millville. He kept Craig Decker and Bruce Gates in site for the Vet A moto..

I got 6th in Vet B in 91 and the next several years I tried to not get lapped by the former pros in Vet A. I turned 50 this year and thought about trying to qualify but then I saw the split class and changed my mind.

How about a "Been There Done That" or "Has Been (pro)" class for those guys that need to massage thier egos and a "Never Was" class for the common folk. I second the motion to kill the 4 strokes. I realize that one's about the $ but it sounds like more old guys would try to qualify if they thought they had a chance. The entry fee is the same so if 40 true amateur vets shoewd up wouldn't MX Sports make the same amount?

The ex pro's should have to race the Pro Am classes. Not cherry pick the Vet classes.

Vet's who travel to major races take racing seriously so it would be competitive even without the ex pro's. There is always someone who races hard every weekend for his entire life showing up.

Baby Boomers are a lot of older riders.....these gates would be filled....Maybe not like the other classes, but lots of old guys want to race.

In all honesty guys, there is only so much time during the week that they can race motorsickles at LL's. There really is no time for an extra moto. Something would have to leave.

It's a Youth Amateur National.

Leave the geezers in the announcer booth.

And yes that means who you think it means.

Sucks to be you. Adding a Vet class means taking a class away. The numbers at the area qualifiers were brutal as it stands now. The sport is already in deep trouble at the amateur level.

You might want to train more an get faster.

The ex Pro's should not even be at this race. Last I look it was called a Amateur National. LL's is awesome but there is nothing Amateur about it.

LOL...I think the complaining about the "ex pros" is worse than the whole b/c debate...

A better guess is under 25 Scott! I wonder if he or others realize that you, a 45A rider, would most likely hand him his ass! I see you and other +30 and up A riders running with the young guns enough to know you deserve lots of respect.

So how many people on here think PW's are a motocross bike? They have 2 classes for these yard turds.

My whole goal in getting to LL in the Vet class is to line up against guys I used to read about in magazines. My 12-year-old past self would be very impressed.
But when RC and guys of that caliber start showing up it's gonna be a little ridiculous.
