I just moved down to Temecula, from Washington, and I am in need of a job. Like most everybody I would love to land an industry job. I have been involved with motocross for most of my life and just graduated from Washington State University, and I figured I'd come down to try and get a job within our sport. I knew it wasn't going to be easy, nor would I just be handed a cush gig. I figured I could pick up a "normal" job in the meantime while I submitted resumes to companies and waited for something to open up. Finding really anything open down here has been a challenge. I would hate to have to go home prematurely with my tail between my legs, begging for my old job back.
So really I'm on here, like riders have done in the past, asking for help. If anyone with connections in the industry (or even out of the industry) has any ideas or suggestions where to get started for a job around here, that would be appreciated. I know times are tough and the economy is lagging, but I feel like someone like me could be valuable to a motorsports company with a college education and a deep background in motocross. Anyhow, if anyone would be interested in a copy of my resume, PM or E-mail me.
Thanks fellow vital members.

What has worked for me in the past if I wasn't in a rush for money. Pick a mx shop near by and offer to work and help out for about a week for free to see if they could use the help. They don't know if they need something until they get a taste of it.
I used to sell bikes because i loved being around MX in my twenties. I finally realized I would never be able to afford a new bike and a house with the money I made not to mention retirement and good benefits.

good place to go to!
Look around carefully, you will see plenty of opportunities in Cali. By example, the real estate market is flat. The number of brokers has dropped dramatically with the down-turn. If one really believes these are the end times---then I guess sitting on the beach and waiting for Armeggedon is the right approach-----or moving to a flyover state and simply delaying the inevitable. Or, one could choose to believe that the RE market will return---and with it will come all of the foreign investors who helped create the last bubble. This is called a market cycle. Getting in when others are "out" ensures that you are the go-to guy when the market turns. Guess what I encouraged my oldest child to pursue after college...... And, when it turns, she will be licensed, experienced, and ready for take-off. Just one example. The auto industry will also return to action, and could be a great way to learn sales and possibly enter management.
And remember, fortunes are made during recessions..... Still, most folks sit and bitch that the world has changed around them, rather than realizing that change creates opportunities.
A positive attiude is key. Be diligent and good luck!
As for all of the recent California 'hate,' I am reminded of Warren Buffett's quote: "Be greedy when others are fearful and be fearful when others are greedy." The more others sell Cali short, the more I buy in.

I'll check the PM right now MXwebsites, thanks.
My degree is in Social Sciences, But I took classes in Business Law, Marketing, and Advertising so its kind of a general degree focused in social sciences.
Another thing I have done in the past is to make my rounds to all the shops in the area to take their stale inventory and sell it for them on eBay out of my house. This gets you introduced to a lot of people who may see the benefit and hire you on full time. My eBay store is 60-70% of my business. Good luck to you.

The OEM's cut staff big time in the past two years. As things start to get better, they will need more people in Sales, Marketing and PR going forward. Now is a great time to start working yourself in. Its not that hard.
You are doing things backwards.....
You are supposed to move from Cali to the Northwest!
Isn't that the new trend?
Best thing to do is bug the shit out of places til they hire you.
Best of luck to you.
Kennewick is a pretty cool area ,I always liked the Tri-Cities area.
I used to do a lot of fishing in that area,Handford Reach,Snake River and on Columbia/Lake Wallula/Umatilla.
