I never had any trouble with mine, and I did 190 hours on it over a two year period. I knew seven guys that had them, and five never had any trouble. One had a lot, but he was a top rider. The main bearings turned in the cases on the other one, but that was the only problem.
Ivan Tedesco won 3 titles in two years on one, although it was highly modified (of course).
Guy B is right... He crushed everyone on his 125 2 Stroke. He was so far ahead in the race that it was a yawner...
The double sized Foopers were totally useless against the 125!
Don't forget, at this point the announcers were being told at the production meetings that they had to hype the FOOPERS... So you'll hear them trying to talk positively about the 250 Foopers while they lard ass around the track...
The REALLY funny parts are Ivan Tedesco drop kicking his Fooper to the ground after it blows up on him, and Davey Millsaps sitting on his double sized Fooper looking so dissapointed after it let him down too....

As for the original topic, to add to what others had already written, he wanted to break the all time wining record on 125's held by Ricky, so rode most of the season on the 125. Once he completed that, there was still one round left, so rode the 250F, and must have had the rest of the field shaking their heads wondering how he was going so fast. James probably also realised that same race why everyone else was already riding the 250 four strokes in that class.
Useless? He had big problems with Roncada in that race.

Like Tanner said, not trying to get into a debate but for all the guys who hate 4-strokes. But did you hate them from the get go? Or the first time you rode a 450 did you think it was awesome? I know I went straight from the track, taking my buddies CRF450 for a spin, to the dealership lol. I would bet a good amount of you felt the same way but the price of the bikes and maintaining them has beat you down. That's the boat I'm in and have starting looking a used strokers
And I too believe Stewart beats RC in 05' on a level playing field outdoors.
As far as your second paragraph. I have only rode two bikes recently: a 2002 CR250R and a 2005 YZF450. I always ride the CR250R but my Dad let me ride his YZF450 one day. I felt much faster in the corners but jumps were scary as hell with engine breaking, and I felt really, really lazy on it. In a single day, I started some poor habits in the corners because of the way the bike handled and the way the power was delivered. I will probably buy 2-strokes until the day they completely ban people from owning them, and the sole reason... cost. It will be less expensive for me to repair "IF" something happens. I know a 4-stroke will require less maintenance, but if something happens, I want the cost to be cheaper.
Back on topic. I think the results would be different if Ricky and James were both still on 2-strokes.
