Pingree says:

I spoke with Randy Lawrence this week and we started talked about Jason Lawrence. When the two of them began working together in January, I thought there might be a chance that Jason could really turn things around, keep his nose clean, and reignite his career. Well, Randy explained that they haven’t been working together since a little blow-up they had in Daytona. I couldn’t figure out why Lawrence wasn’t improving and seemed like he was just riding around out there. Now I know. Don’t hold your breath waiting for him to come around, folks.

I think the information Kenny Watson received about Lawrence's lack of results might sadly be the truth.

Matthes brought up the weed thing which I guess might be a minor factor but I doubt it is a real reason.

That sucks for sure.. Just a funny thought, but if there is any relevancy to what Matthes said with weed, isn't there like a legal substitute to marijuana? I'm not saying that is the problem he is having, but if it was?? Like I said just a funny thought.

On another note he seemed much more like the old Lawrence at Houston, and if you read Racer X's Sign of the Laptimes, it showed him with the 5th fastest time overall and that was the lap before Wey sought out revenge. So had that not happened it would of been interesting to see how he would of finished, had he not been taking out and took a lap to start his bike. All i know is he hauled ass last year at St. Louis and the soft rutty dirt suits his style very well.

That whole conversation had me pretty intrigued. After getting hurt i started playing wheelchair tennis, traveling all over to tournaments competing at a pretty high level, thats a game that is so mental, and takes tons of practice.

Well during the week i would take a couple puffs and go hit the ball, was playing about 6 hours a day. Long story short, i was hitting the ball so damn good during the week, but come tourney time on weekends i would choke. Well i started puffing at tourneys and would play at the same level as practicing during the week.

Of course you cant draw to many parallels from playing tennis to racing MX, and when racing my Pilot it was the complete opposite, I coudlnt ride for shit while cooked.

Haha great story. I am definitely not one of those guys who treats marijuana as a bigger deal than it should be. It can definitely have positive effects on people.

I don't agree that it would help with riding. In fact I'm not sure how it possibly could because it slows things down. But I've also heard of alot of people who won't ride without it. Now I tend to believe that they just think it helps and its just a mental thing. But even if its a mental thing, in a sport that is so mentally demanding, that maybe it does help those people.

I know of PLENTY of racers whose speed secret is a few tokes in the trailer before a moto. It relaxes you and takes away those thoughts racing in your brain that makes you hesitate and I think it helps you flow a little better. HOWEVER getting BAKED all day at the track will have you totally burnt out and making stupid mistakes.

I don't get how he can smoke if he is on formal probation. I work for my local probation department and testing would be part of his terms and conditions. Weed doesn't just go away in a day or two either so how he could be getting by is beyond me. Hopefully he gets it together, and it says THEY had a blow up. Maybe both of them were unhappy with the results just as RV2 was unhappy with his results while he was being trained by Randy.

makes sense, I've ridden buzzed after a few beers before. I thought I was done riding and then some friends talked me into another moto. And it had the same kinda effect, you don't get tripped up on all the little things you think about and you just go out there and flow. I actually felt much faster, although I never compared lap times. But i could see how it could help in moderation.

This is a huge problem for many people on probation that like Marijuana. It is fat soluble so it takes much longer to get out of your system. So many people switch to coke or meth or pain meds. so they can clean up much easier for a drug test. I have seen it many times before. You need to study for at least 3 days to pass a MJ test.

lol thats funny. I used to puff and ride a couple of times out at a rink-a-dink local spot in wilkenson. I used to feel like I owned that place, but i wouldnt mess with that shit on a full blown supercross track, or moto track. Ive heard/seen people (actually a fast pro) use controlled substance (white) at a local moto track here and he completely flew on it. Its crazy how some people dont get a natural high from riding so they use. It seems idiotic to me.

I think they do it to make them ride better not necessarily to make the experience better. But riding better does better your experience.

guess you've never heard of K2???? perfectly legal in most areas of the country (although most areas that know it exists are trying to ban it).... it's pretty much what every pot smoker that doesn't want to get busted smokes... 3 oz for 30 bucks in most areas, synthetic pot...

I've never smoked anything but I did post my best Reflex lap-times while on Vicodin from my knee surgery. I bet weed would make my overly-analytical mind rest and make me go faster but I'll never find out.

I have always been an off and on heavy pot smoker. Tried riding a few times with it and just couldn't really flow with it. Makes you out of shape also.

I'm in a love hate relationship with drugs. I have anxiety and whatever the hell else doctors diagnose me with. Been on so many drugs-legal and non legal. Hell even rode on lithium once-that shit makes you out of it.

I'm coming off a 5 month everyday habit of weed and got some painkillers and been taking them everyday for 3 weeks now instead. I didn't really have any withdrawals on the weed but after 2 weeks of taking painkillers from a root canal then running out I was jonesing real bad and already feeling withdrawals from just 5 to 7.5 hydrocodone a day-pretty low dose. Went to my ent and scored some more. I am wired writing this right now on them because I can't sleep.

I don't know if I like the weed or painkillers better. I know I feel like shit either way whether I'm sober or not so I self medicate. Weed has it's ups and downs. I tend to be in a much better mood and not as grumpy. Painkillers are more numbing and I'm a little more grumpy. I do get that paranoia with the weed also if I smoke too much. I tend to gain weight on the painkillers also. Remember ron-ron and the weight he put on? Not saying the pain killers did that to him but I've already gained 2 pounds in the last 3 weeks on them and my eating habits haven't changed. When I had a habit about 7 years ago I gained about 30 pounds. I think they slow down the heart rate and metabolism. With weed my heart rate always get over 100 after smoking for about 30 minutes.

I like the weed but it has it's ups and downs. I never rode that well when high and never really felt like riding to be honest but I would play the shit out of some reflex and do real well when playing high. Don't play as well on the painkillers though. They kind of fuzz me out a little more and blank my mind where the weed get's my mind thinking more but hate that paranoid feeling so I have to watch my intake. The withdrawals and jonesing feeling suck ass on painkillers.

Do any of you guys self-medicate do help depression/anxiety/etc.? I know alcohol is popular but I just don't go there. I remember the best I felt in a while was when I was on a high dose of paxil. I was riding all the time and racing but man I was manic, agitated alot. A real asshole. Now I take lexapro, valium as always and lately been self medicating with weed and now painkillers.

Sorry to go off topic and long post but I can see why some self-medicate. I also know I have a very addictive behavior and problems with drugs. When I was not taking anything i was constantly going to the doc trying different anti-depressants, off label drugs to help and just couldn't find anything. Doctor finally told me there's nothing more I can do unless they come out with something new. Pretty frustrating.

Stay away from that stuff guys!! I remember the last time (the only time) I tried to ride stoned. Looking back I don't even know why I did it, but for some reason I got high in the morning and went riding in the afternoon. I crashed like 20 minutes in, shattered some bones in my hand, got two surgeries and spent the better part of that summer on the couch. It is intriguing because if you're high you will ride ok but as soon as something unexpected comes up (like a rock lying on the track or a slippery spot or what not) you're pretty much fucked because it'll be too late for you. You wont be worried but you will get hurt just the same. Just my 2 cents.
