These two make mistakes all night long, half the time I feel like they have no idea what is going on. I totally understand that it’s live racing but come on... Ralph yelling that Plessinger made a mistake by crossing the line 3 seconds before the clock ran out... Jeff saying that McElrath is gonna lose the red plate after his crash. “Heavy red plates” “Mental mistakes” We need Jason Weigant and Grant Langston.
The Shop
Seems that commentary in sport's in general is getting that way.
I notice my fellow Canadian Matthe’s has asked for Jeff to bring a little more, I don’t think it’s there.
Too much and the shovel will break. He also had a “verb” for Blair.
Hard to find a balance between “too cool for school”,which is vomit inducing, and boring.
There should not be one boring element to a sport as bad ass as SX, especially a race like last night.
I love his podcasts, but I’m not sure Matthes is Canadian, we are a pretty nice bunch usually,
a little stuffy in the middle of the country maybe.
Ralph is perfect for the mainstream fan.
I have the volume way down and the CC on when I watch, I want to be mesmerized by the racing and not distracted by an announcer. Do the same watching hawky. I can see what is happening with my own eyes.
Directing is the important part to me, at least battles are followed closely now, where the action is. Some things were missed last night, but about 3 huge things happened at once.
If they must go, I vote for Marc Travers, he is great, and Dave Atell.
Pit Row
Last night though, hard to back Ralph, it was just cringe worthy. Hell one part that really sticks out was in the 250 main, as Aaron Plessinger crosses the finish line with 6 seconds left on the clock he proclaims, "Ohh he made a mistake.."
Jeff rightly points out he did not make a mistake, but seriously, what Ralph expect Plessinger to do, stop at the bottom of the jump and count of 6 seconds that I am sure he did not even know about?
There were other cringe worthy moments, but that kinda sums up everything.
How about this. You watch the race next weekend and record your commentating. Upload it to the internet so everyone can listen. Maybe you’ll get recognized by Feld and take their jobs.
Are you a Tomac fan? Let’s get down to what’s really bothering you.
What is wrong with hearing the engines?
Last night was great racing. Any thought of self-preservation went right out the window. Just the way I like it. I watched it on mute.
Im not amazed that they still have jobs, but there are a lot of mistakes. Would love to have Daniel Blair in the booth full time!
