Yeah its nowhere near the real thing but there are some interesting "one-off" things on youtube. It would come in handy big time during winter and times like this and for those addicted to the sport but can't risk injury anymore.
Is someone working on the perfect "real like" garage setup and commercializing it to where you can have live racing and things similar to how mountain biking setups have progressed? I would expect there would be quite a market for it and you could command a healthy price.

if someone could figure out a way to mount it properly to make it feel like youre actually holding onto a bike then this would be the perfect combo...maybe a set up like the vr stuff they have in the pits
Until we get a decent Force Feedback Controller were all just dinking around on hand held controllers. The Automotive industry is so far ahead with automotive training sims. Kids are being thrown into race cars and pushing the track records with 5% of the seat time of their fathers.
Once we get a decent company to sell an affordable desk mounted controller unit that cycles and moves like a real triple clamp we will be getting somewhere. I mean even learning to use a clutch and throttle is pretty beneficial to brand new riders.
Having developed a couple of "simulations" myself.... I am very curious to see this happen in a few years.
SIDE NOTE:
There was a dude about 7-8 years ago in the MXSimulator.com Forums when Force Feedback was "new" and steering wheels were blowing up.... He made a decent setup with an old frame and handle bar setup. All the linkages were connected to the inputs of a game wheel. THrottle, brakes, clutch etc. I dont think it had any movement.... But it was a great controller.
Here are some old ass links.... Most of the pics are gone from time though.

There is a bunch of images on google still.... Google "doubledragoncc bike simulator" and then click on Images.
Once I get my new "man cave/ Game room" built I am going to build one from an old MX frame with 3 DOF. Pneumatic Actuators on the Forks and even a couple on Yaw.

Its the place to be for "motion sims". I havent been on there in years and I bet someone has already done what we are talking about. lol
Prototype from 10 years ago...
More refined model...
You would need a full bike on a crazy hydraulic armed machine that would allow the bike to twist and turn and bump around.

They'll have to spend a lot of time understanding the gyroscopic effect of the front wheel and the whole "lean to turn" thing.

Once the whole bike is bucking through a virtual whoop section and tossing riders around the room I think it would be pretty fun for a training tool.
OI bet someone will or is doing it already with MX Simulator or MX Bikes.
The arcady-ness of some of the moto games is pretty bad.... but then when devs make it realistic the users will complain that its too difficult. Its a slippery slope to entertain little Timmy.
Agreed. The track you were driving on is laser scanned to a 1:1 scale. So it is is basically the exact same track.
I used to race karts with the guy that modeled the tracks for iRacing in the first few years. We would get together at Extreme Indoor Kart track in Clio, MI. It was 8-10 game developers and fellow online racing nerds. ALL of them could wheel. They all had 1000's of hours in sims and online racing. Even the local fast kids that ran the GoKart place were impressed. They stomped their personal best. None of them owned their own karts. Its was impressive.
What kind of setup does one need to play this MX Bikes?
