Good interview with Jeffrey Herling's. Sorry if it's been posted but first I've seen it and nice to see a side of him probably most from this side of the world don't get to see. Can't believe he is a Bieber fan.

"I have tons of respect for the guys in America like Cooper Webb and Jeremy Martin. Those guys are freaking fast, and to beat them would be way harder than winning a GP on an MX2 bike, that’s for sure."

That last sentence is sure to ruffle some feathers.

Wow. I'm a fan. He's really down to earth and I couldn't have answered his questions better for him. It's sad the hate that gets put on riders shoulders from people assuming shit about them or being just jealous. Good luck to him in all that he does!

That was a cool read. I really dig the guy. It's crazy how young he is, yet it feels like he's been around forever.

I've been a big fan of herlings ever since "moto 1" the movie. I'm an American and I don't really get all the hate towards foreign riders. I respect any good rider I like roczen and have no problem with him dominating our series and not being from here. it's a pleasure to watch.

It's true. What he said is right, but it's also right to add some context to it. He was talking about going to the US to take those guys on in America. Which of course would be way more difficult that winning an MX2 GP on a track he's used to.

A really great interview. The more interviews we see like this the better

Who said that it wouldn't be harder for him to beat Webb and Martin (and the other top AMA guys)?

There is no hate!
Come on?? hate?
Just moto fans who wanna see the best vs the best!
Stephen used to hide from RC! Tony spent his whole career hiding from RV! Now Tim & Jeff are hiding - instead of moving to the A class - their happy with being the BIG fish in the C class! That gets no respect in the USA! That's all! Not hate! Just angry at wasted talent! We need the next star to battle Kroc & Tomac! Not someone who's content with staying in the FIM schooling half full gates of average talent!
Having said that ... good interview though.

Not here to make any enemies. But are serious??? The riders you mention are(were) riding the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP..... And the USA have nationals, like most other countries all over the world. Canada, Australia, NZ, Germany, GB, Belgium, The Netherlands, Italy, France, Spain and the list goes on......

So why should world championship riders attend your championship to proof anything? I know it's fast, but common...... RV eventually came to the WC, but not even to proof anything. Just for joy and for money. If i were you, i would reconsider my statement!

Calling the world championship C-class??? Thats just dumb!!! hahaha
Btw, who needs respect from people like you? I sure as hell dont Wink

What does World Champion mean? A championship that races all over the world? A championship that has riders from all over the world? A championship that has the best riders in all of the world? The MXGP World Championship title falls short in 2 of those 3 areas.

It's an interesting question, because the SX series is a world championship as well, and that doesn't fill all of those criteria, so how do you define a world championship. Maybe it's the championship that the FIM deem most suitable for crowning a world champion?

Hmmm, so a worldcup like in soccerworld? It takes place in one country everytime it takes place....???
And btw, this championship took place in like what, 3 different continents this year?
Also, where is proof that USA have "the best" riders in the world? You must be hallucinating.
And.... the championship has riders from all over the world, are you blind, or not up to date. You just dont know what respecting other people and athletes means, do you?

Great interview, I am glad he did it, much more respect. Great introspective regarding SX, he stated he tested and went down a few times, coupled with homesickness he made the decision to stick with the GP's and family. I can understand that, a good family support group goes a long way. Seeing the high risk of injury in SX far from home is daunting, but nobody should question his speed on an outdoor track.

Not this again. There must be over 1,000,000 posts arguing over this same thing.

Icespikes, it is the world championship because of the continents it covers, the various countries involved, etc. Guess what? The best riders in the GPs are a match for the best riders in the AMA. Depending on who you ask, they may not have as many "best riders" as the U.S. Or, the U.S. may not have as many "best riders" as the G.P's. Show a little respect to the World Championship of motocross. I think that is all most people are really after. After all, EUROPE brought us motocross. They invented it.

At some point, all you guys that invest so much time in arguing this stuff...you have to get a grip. Should one decide to try, the next time an American goes over to try for the World Championship, and wins it, most of you monkeys are going to be going on about how great the World Championship is.

EDIT ADD: Great interview with #84.

^Totaly agree with DonM!

But saying the ama have "the best riders" in the world. And calling the WC a C-class is just dumb, my fellow countryman was like what, within 10secs behind Tomac last saturday.... Look at how much time the first american was behind Tomac at Ironman (lets leave Barcia out of this).

Mxgp has visited many places, that is where the title holds up. AMA series have roughly the same continental representation as the GPs (N America, S America, Europe, Australia). The AMA riders may not best the GP guys in a series, but i do consider them among the best in the world.

US SX series has the undeniably best SX riders in the world participating.

Edit: Icespikes is playing what would be considered a heel in pro wrestling.

I agree but I also think if a guy has to do it every week the body may need more help. The GPs have some pretty nice gaps between events for recovery and less fatigue.....IMO

Ofcourse they are among the best riders in the world, and the USA have more of "the best riders in the world" then any other country. Would be sick to see a combined series in multiple continents with all the best riders in the world, tho i think it financialy is not attractive enough for the sponsors. :/

And yes, US(WC) SX has the fastest SX riders in the world. But let me make a note, there was not a single sx practise track in my country while i was still riding (and i am 31yrs old). Cant even think of a desent track nowadays!

During the gaps in the GPs they pretty much all ride the nationals.

I agree that icespikes' comment was moronic, but comparing the US nationals to the canadian, austrailian, etc. nationals is reaching pretty hard. Seems like a pretty weak attempt to add more legitimacy to the "world" championship. Don't get me wrong, I think it's the only series with comparable talent to the US nationals, and if a rider wants to race that series for their career, good for them. Adding a word to the championship doesn't necessarily mean it hosts the worlds top talent. I'm reminded of when Carmichael won the supercross championship and James was there celebrating with him. In an interview he was telling about how RC just won the national title, but he won the world title. If you didn't know any better, you'd think James just won the more prestigious award. However, we do know better, and in the eyes of the fans and the entire moto industry Jame's "world" title is basically worthless compared to his other titles. It's nothing more then a word to make you feel better about the series.

Uhm.... "weak attempt"? Seriously? I am trying to explain something, and i wasn't comparing. Maybe you misunderstood me. But okay, i was only questioning, why fast riders are expected to attend the ama nationals to show their talent, instead of the other way around... Isn't that why we have a world championship. Thats how it used to be in the far past Wink
