I decided to take my new HD GoPro out for a spin and thought I'd share. I was sick and the conditions were crap (Plus I was alone! Don't do that kids!), so I only did a few laps. Even still, I got footage from the side and top of my helmet. Plus chest mounted.
Pretty nice so far. Raw files look awesome on HDTV.

A few tips...use the tall mount for the camera on the helmet and the visor will be out of the shot...aim the camera a tad higher.
Also, use rainex on the lense and it will be much better in the rain.
I need to get a better computer and learn editing software with this new toy!
That chest mount is great...I need to get one for skiing.
I want one, but wasn't sure if I needed HD or nor. but after wathing this, don't make sense to buy a lesser one. especially everything in the house is HD nowdays.
The Shop
I have to say the side mount was probably my favorite view too. I'd really like to find a way to mount it below my vision without messing up my vision. that would probably be a nice spot if I could figure it out.... and I'll have all winter, so I'll get it done.
1) Shot clips in 960p
2) Put clips together using Apple iMovie. Then exported the movie in Full Quality to a *.mov file. this made a huge 3.3 GB file. My goal was to get this under 1 GB with some space to spare (YouTube allows up to 2 GB )
3) Converted and compressed the *.mov file to a *.f4v flash file using Adobe Media Encoder
4) For the settings there:
- I brought the resolution down to 720p (1280x720).
- Frame Rate to Same as Source (should have been 29.97)
- Bitrate Encoding to VBR 2
- Set my Target Bitrate at 21.36 Mbps (probably could have gone lower)
- Audio was AAC, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz, stereo
This gave me a file that was under a GB at 999MB .... then just began the converting and waited.
