FMF vs yoshimura (went with yoshi

I have an rmz 450 and I'm torn between fmf and yoshimura pipes. What positives and negatives have you all had?

Yoshimuras dyno on their site shows minimal power gains with actual loss of torque if im correct from the stock exhaust. I went with FMF for power and the pricing.

I have been using fmf on all my bikes for years, I cannot say I have any complaints,it's a bolt on you can feel and tune your bike to also,at the same time I'm sure yoshimura is a good system too but I cannot say that I have ever tried one of their exhaust systems out.

I think you're pretty set with either and generally mag reviews will give pretty reliable perceptions of each... You'd be worth getting on TT and having a look at the Yellow forum and see what people's experiences with build quality are.

I got a Yosh for my 350, it's meant to be the best, I'm a PC guy myself. Super impressed by the Yosh build quality, it looks and is holding up great. Quality fittings, just looks well made. I've read some people having bad experiences with some FMF cans recently but take that with a grain of salt! Everyone can get shitty stuff occasionally.

Go with a ti or stainless steel muffler regardless who you select. There is a reason why factory race teams park the carbon fiber muffler cans when the outdoors start and they don't pay for their stuff either.

i had a FMF slip on and a Yosh full system on my RMZ450.

both performed better than stock, but the fit and finish of the Yosh was far superior- it really does fit as well as stock, but the FMF was a pain to fit- but this was a few years ago so that could have changed.

i like that the yosh uses a rubber grommet/bushing to mount the can.

if you need a power commander setup to tune it, i have one in the bazzar.

I really like the look of the carbon Yoshi, but for me paying that much and the chance of destroying it on a tip over or tangle in a turn is too much for me... I have been running the FMF with mega bomb and really like it.

I will second the fact that FMF doesnt have the quality of Yoshimura.

FMF rivets things that probably should be welded and with the abuse an exhaust takes, the FMFs tend to rattle apart. Perhaps if they added some plates and strengthening in the areas where they use rivets they would last longer.

I'd go with the Yosh if you want it to last.

I have used both and the Yoshimura seemed to produce more mid to top power and the FMF more bottom. Both are great, and as stated above the Yoshimura fit and finish is the best there is.

You will be happy with either one and the FMF can be had for less.

Have had both, but on 2 different bikes. Had a dual carbon set up on a CRF250F and was a great system. I would honestly go stainless or Ti instead of carbon for the casual ride/racer though as it's more durable. The carbon with red ano mounts are super trick looking though. I got a good deal on the carbon so I went with it. Stock seemed to have more torque on the bottom, but the Yosh definitely pulled much harder in the mid/high and longer than stock. Great quality fit and finish and salivating looks.

FMF on my current CRF450. Running stainless Megabomb header with Ti Factory 4.1 muffler. Fit and finish and overall quality is excellent for the price. Very good crack of the throttle response with great low/mid pull. Very durable and had good weight distribution on the bike. You don't feel like your lugging around a heavy ass 4-stroke exhaust.

From here on out I'll run the FMF system on my 450 on any bike I purchase in the future. I've had Dr. D, Pro Circuit, Yosh, MRD (Great exhaust also) and FMF and for the quality and price, I'll stay with FMF from here on out. See my avatar or bike check for my current 450 setup.

either way their both really good, I had both on my FE , and ended selling the fmf, the yosh was a lot better,and quality wise, yosh is probably the best, imo

Fmf stickers fit nicely over a Ford emblem. I think that's important to remember when choosing.

A Yosh will smooth the powerband, but the FMF will produce more grunt on the RMZ and sounds better.

x2 , used both systems on 09 and 13 rmz 450 s, both good products fmf seems snappier and has a deeper bark tone. remap will help, put rm 250 air filter cage in it also. if you have the $$ add a vortex to the full system, use some good fuel. You will love it.

there's something off with that header because every one that I've seen doesn't look like that. Probably not an issue with performance hopefully, but that's welded differently. Looks like someone welded a rock shield to it.

I it does have the extra titanium shield on there and it does not effect performance so far. It woke up the mid and top quite a bit so far
