Ktm looks to be ahead of the pack with this bike. Looks like it's ready for production.

This is very big news. A major manufacturer putting a serious effort into the development of an electric dirt bike intended for competition. Sure, its an enduro bike (enduro is HUGE in Europe), but it being KTM, a motocross version could not be far behind. It doesn't hurt that the Austrian government is helping them along.

With a 40 minute run time you would think they would produce an mx version first. I guess the mx version would not be very different.

I'm with Williams, I'd love to have one.... with an extra battery pack.

I wonder if it would have any trouble hauling my fat old rear up some of these goat trails out here?

Very impressive!!! KTM rules!!! Might not totally fill our needs just yet at the track, but I guess the evolution of batteries would make it possible to upgrade at some point. Until then this is probably adequate. Just have 3? extra batteries with you. I would be totally satisfied with a 30 min moto x 3!

I wonder what the haters will come up to if this hits the track?

the only issue I can see what the thing would be figuring out what class it belongs in. unless its going to have its own class

hey our riding park is 600 feet from new houses, bring on the electric 2 STROKES right now!!! Smile

ah hell i would even ride an electric four stroke. just have to change the sound coming out of the speakers. !!!

I'd take it straight to the golf course , at night , with a light on the front. While they are in the club house sipping Gins you'd be 300 yards away tearing the shit out the greens and roosting berms in the bunkers. And they'd be none the wiser.

there is a company that has been testing out here in California I seen there electric bikes at the track.. The test riders look good on them they jump everything at the track like regular bikes.. I asked them how much the bikes were and they told me 10 grand for base model. 45 min run time.

electric bikes could have speakers to produce preloaded sounds
As you twist the trottle the sounds get louder or increasie in beats.
I would may mine play machinge gun sounds or play Peanut Butter Jelly Time from Family Guy

Can you imagine at the start ? Deathly silence followed by a huge CLANG !! as the gate drops then more silence ??

Bloody wierd if you ask me . Anybody take a major digger and break a bone and you'd hear the thing snap !! Ouch .

you will be able to hear the announcer again.

you can also hear the rider behind you cussing you out for a stuff in a corner.

your pit crew can now distract you with both a pit board and a loud yell.

yep 50cc class has nothing on the "clank" of the gate on this class.

sneak up on the competition and pass, no more directional hearing.....

deer won't get out of the dam way on the trails

just think MX races with pit stops to swap out batteries........multiple pit stops for Hare Scrambles.

creek crossings would give a whole new meaning to getting a shock of your life.......

They say it weighs about 90kg (198 lbs). I wish it would lose about 20kg at least. Definitely impressive bike! Good job KTM!

This is huge. I was contemplating buying a trials bike to mess around on in the neighborhood/ backyard. I'm definently picking one of these up. Own the very first mx style electric bike.

Imagine the shredding you could do on this bad boy. freestyle ramp in backyard? arenacross track? no problem. Skatepark style courses just for fmx with quarter pipes and ramps, like the on renner was hitting. Beleive it or not the sport is progressing.

no re-jetting...... but.....

on cold days, it will be slower...... those cells offer optimal output voltage under load when the cells are right around 120F..... if you are out riding on a 40 degree day, it will be significantly slower.....

and on the heat side...... let's say it's a blistering 105F outside..... and the track is over watered (again)...... and let's say you are a fat ass...... maximum load is being put on the power system, and if you should get the cells to reach about 160F, they go into thermal runaway and there is no turning back...... just sit back and enjoy the caustic smoke and watching your bike burn to the ground..... great fun! Smile
