Personally, I think that’s a fair price unless the bike is trashed.

that's a good price. Market just sucks on used bikes. Its easy for people to just go finance them then it is to come up with the money cash.

I sold my 16 last year 70 hours in really good condition. I got 4500. That was with those 4cs nightmare forks.

I just bought a 17' KTM 450 with 50 hrs on it for $4500. The guy I bought it from said he listed it last year for $5500 and got no bites. He dropped the price to $5000 and still no bites. He finally dropped it to $4500 and got all kinds of people calling him. Luckily, I was the first one.

A huge part of the selling problem is the limited number of people that want your specific bike, are in a close enough area to access your ad, are willing to spend the upfront cash, and that have the cash on hand to spend. As opposed to the number of people that want to trade tattoos, weed, or just offer you stupid low amounts of money- that demographic seems to have no limit of participants.

I've found that if you use CL, FB, offerup and letgo you reach a pretty decent sized audience. Having it priced right and having a good ad certainly make a difference too. The key is finding the right buyer and sometimes that takes a long time. You might have a bike listed for two months and one day the right guy decides to buy his kid a bike, finds your ad and buys it- never aware you're had it listed for what feels like forever. Dealing with the aforementioned idiots in the meanwhile is just part of the process...

This pretty much sums it up.

Manufactures are pumping out new bikes every year before their dealers are able to get rid of old stock. Dealer then blow out last years or 2 year old models for next to nothing. When you add in that they can financed those bikes at 4% its a no brainer

The used MX bike market is so bad for anyone selling a bike that’s only a couple years old. You either keep it until it’s a 7 year old $2000-$2500 bike and you’ll get a shitload of people biting at your ads, or you take a major loss selling now. It would probably be gone by the weekend for $4000 if you put it up on FB marketplace.

I’ve come to accept that my 16 KX450F will be with me for a long time. It’s just not worth it to me to sell it for $4000 when it’s a perfectly good bike.

Sold my 14 YZ450 last year for $3800. It was super clean and only had 38 hours on it. I took a huge loss.

I’m looking for a 350 right now and there are some 16/17 models here in Texas with under 30 hours for 4800-6200. 70hrs probably would need to be in the 4500 range in my opinion. Used 4t easpecially small bores unless super clean like new seem to be tough to sell.

Just sold two of my Sons KTM's (50/65) both 2017. Had to price both low on the spectrum to move them. Still had tons of people with ridiculous low ball offers. It's really tough to move bikes right now.

How are you listing? Recently i've had no luck on Craigslist.

Facebook Marketplace, and the various bike specific groups on facebook, seems to be the new go to. Had a handful of bites on day 1 and sold within a few days versus listed on craigslist for months with no emails/texts.

fvckin ebay. just sold 2 cars and a bike this weekend had everyone of these faggots drain a solid dozen hrs of my time ranging and setting up the shipping making bills of sale then editing those for 2 guys sending all my bank info for payments copying drivers license for all and all these terd smugglers backed out costing me all the listing fees.

getting your prostate examined is more convenient and comfortable and often turns out better than selling anything in this day

I have sold my last 2 bikes off Craigslist. But here is the thing. If it doesn’t sale off that site in 2-3 days be prepaid for every crook wanting to over night a check for $2k over your asking price blah blah. Again I’m not trying to make money off the bike, just braking even at best. Just not worth the time for all be tire kickers and pissed off neighbors cause some moron thinks if he can walk a wheelie down the road I’ll be soo impressed I’ll reduce price by a grand. Or entire some meth head to see all my other fun stuff in my garage. Not worth it.

Good luck on the sale.

Yeah it’s a terrible market. People are wanting $3000 for a 2008 YZ250 that’s been used really well. Then you try and get decent money for a 3-4 year old bike and they treat you like you have the 08 YZ250. Lol
I have a few bikes to sale but I may end up storing them just based off of market value.
If you can’t sell a 17 KTM for $5000, then I’ll never see $4000 for my RMZ. May part it out at this point.

Since I mostly buy new, I always trade in my old bikes and cars. I lose a bit but i save lots of time, I get the money right now and save part of the sales tax on my purchase.

If you have the title for it.

List a few local banks or credit unions loan rates. Some aren't aware that they can get still get financing when buying private.

I disagree
I’d buy “that” bike for $5K all day, if I was looking for one.

I agree! It’s a $10,000 scooter. $5000 is very reasonable.
Hell that $4000 range is getting in the Loaded RMZ450 range...lol

Call eBay tomorrow and explain to them what happened. They’ll go through the emails and hopefully remove the fees. Good luck!

I sold my 2017 450sx with 130 hours for $6300 last weekend. Was on craigslist for a total of 20 hours. Around here 5k would be a bargain for your bike.
